EPE462 Industrial Machine Vision

EPE462 Industrial Machine Vision

Course objective:
To learn the basic concepts in an
industrial machine vision system, including
system components, image acquisition,
image processing, segmentation, feature
extraction and classification, and apply the
knowledge gained to solve practical machine
vision and inspection problems.

1. Describe the various elements of a generic vision
system model and explain how scene constraints can machine vision systems
be applied to simplify the image processing operation. 2. Scene constraints

2. Explain the transformation of optical image data into 3. Image acquisition

an array of numerical data including its representation,
sensing and digitization.
4. Image processing
3. Apply various image processing methods to
preprocess digital images to remove noise, remove
non-uniform background, improve contrast, remove
blobs, enhance features etc.
5. Segmentation
