What this selection illustrates about my learning/why I chose this selection:
I chose this section because I need to improve on my assessment skills. I need to be able to tell my students which assessments will help them master the learning target and which will be an assessment of their learning. The activities I completed in this chapter helped me evaluate what I am currently doing in my classroom. This allowed me to reflect on the ways in which I could improve my teaching practices. The activities indicated areas in which I need to make changes during my curriculum rewrite this coming year. Planning time for feedback and time for students to act on that feedback will be incorporated into my new curriculum. Unit outlines that indicate which assessments are for student learning and which assessments are of student learning is another piece of evidence of what I got out of this chapter. This outline has really helped me digest which assessments are for student learning and which are of student learning.
