Teaching for Learning: Guideline #5

The school library media program uses student assessment and
evidence-based practice to improve student learning.

Evidence based learning improvements

How do we make decisions? Before investing valuable resources, we look for
the most efficient methods.

Teachers and Director discuss student needs and areas for collaboration.
This doesnt have to be 1 to 1. Director can visit department meetings to
gather information.
They use asynchronous collaboration sessions to create individual project
guides.

Technology for collaboration

They use asynchronous collaboration sessions to create individual project

guides.
Here is where having shared google documents in group folders can
maximize time efficiency.
Students can reflect via google classroom, a real life skill that then helps
the collaborators respond to individual student needs.

What does the data look like?

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSedK-ZYbfXVkbvQ-P8K7ebERUQQ
00GuCsEwCuIeDHUCVATSQQ/viewform
Google forms, which give a pile of data, can easily be shared between
collaborators.
Library Director works directly with teachers to interpret assessment
outcomes and use this data to direct future instruction.
Are the students hitting the target? Or do we need to adjust instruction?

Going out with a roar

What do we do? We create a student centered environment where staff and
students come for resources to create problem solvers, critical thinkers,
flexible learners who develop their independence throughout their time at
Regina Dominican. We prepare todays students to be tomorrows leaders.
