VOZ ATIVA X VOZ PASSIVA

A voz passiva muito utilizada na lngua inglesa. A voz passiva
utilizada para contar o que acontece com os objetos da ao. Ao contrrio
da voz ativa, que contamos o que o sujeito realiza. Exemplos:
Voz ativa: Pedro lavou o carro (Pedro washed the car)
Voz passiva: O carro foi lavado (The car was washed)

Na maioria das vezes a voz passiva s utilizada quando a ao for mais importante
do que o sujeito. Exemplos:
- Brazil was discovered in 1500. (O Brasil foi descoberto em 1500, voz passiva)
- Pedro Alvares Cabral discovered Brasil. (Pedro A.C. descobriu o Brasil, voz ativa)

A passiva tambm funciona com o intuito de fazer com que a ao fique mais evidente
do que quem a realiza. E esse , em alguns casos, o objetivo de alguns jornalistas quando
relatam um fato ocorrido. Isso ocorre, por exemplo, ao dizerem "duas pessoas foram mortas
ontem".

A nfase na ao e no no sujeito pode ser justificada pela ausncia de informaes a
respeito de quem cometeu tal ato ou, simplesmente, pelo fato de a publicao preferir
evidenci-la em detrimento de quem a realizou. Isso acontece muito nos textos de placas e
informativos, em geral.
