Black Lives Matter Movement: The oncoming Threat to the African American Community is
impending and a growing hazard to our community.
Editor. "The Truth of Black Lives Matter." The New York Times. The New York Times, 03 Sept.
2015. Web. 28 Sept. 2016.
The African American community have been terrorized by slavery since the early 1600s.
First being brought to America in 1619 by Dutch traders who had seized them from Spanish
traders. Initially serving in Jamestown, Virginia and eventually spreading throughout America as
the country progressed. The New York Times does a great job of explaining the current situations
regarding police brutality on African Americans. It explains the evidence of Government officials
such as Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky who would like the phrase Black Lives Matter as an
inflammatory or even hateful anti-white expression. The article goes into further detail and
explains that the civil rights movement pushed by Dr. Martin Luther King was done in vain
hence we are still dealing with the mass killing of African Americans in our current society.
Black people are killed every day by police officers who misuse and abuse their civic power. The

officers feel empowered and supported by the corrupt judicial system and spur utter hopelessness
for blacks as a people.

After 100 years after the emancipation proclamation, African Americans in southern
states still laid host to forms of unequal segregation and forms of oppression on the community.
This Article demonstrates a reflection of previous records that relate to our present situation in
American history. During this time period Jim Crow laws at the local and state levels restricted
blacks from bathrooms, classrooms, busses, juries, and all legislatures. Blacks were being beaten,
killed, and thrown in jail for senseless crimes against Caucasians. The Supreme court finally
struck down the separate but equal doctrine in hopes to digress the African American peoples
plight. Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcom X and Rosa parks were a few of the individuals who
help push this cause to come about. Currently racism is not even hiding himself right now, and is
out and about spreading influences through politicians such as Donald Trump himself. Blacks are
segregated quietly in other ways such as debt or property and even amongst themselves as we
battle each other in black on black crime.

The author of this article Charles M. Blow believes that the Black Lives Matter movement took
some criticism for what people viewed as a lack of clear focus and detailed agenda. However
he goes on to say that it in all honest it raises a red flag to the issue that the grist of this issue can
no longer be ignored. The evidence of social inequality in 2016 is unacceptable, immoral, and

indisputable. The pure inequity of policing is evident and has been elevated to the main focus as
it relates heavily to minority communities. Protestors for several incidents where police killings
have taken place vastly died down, and thus the news machine, never following up with the story
due to lack of interest. However, majority of the cases were never given a full resolution or
reconciliation. The issue is constantly raised but never resolved and now mistrust reeks from
police as communities are often afraid of their protectors. Often this concept is introduced in
martial law however there are those who fear it has already begun.
Alexander, Michelle. The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. N.p.:
n.p., n.d. Print
The author of this book goes in detail about the new form of slavery in our present day
world. While African Americans celebrate their recent victory of a black president, many blacks
are locked behind bars. It goes to reference that even though Jim Crow Laws are off the books
African Americans are still subjugated to the rest of society. African Americans are told how to
raise their children, forced into mental classes, thrown into a life of criminalization, and
incarcerated. After incarceration African Americans are then unable to vote and are treated as
second class citizens. This leads to lack of number of African Americans voting in the US. The
15th amendment has been yanked from many Americans and seems like it is unconstitutional and
unrighteous acts of treason against our fellow Americans. While the war on drugs seemed to help
all society it actually exploited African American neighborhoods to supply the ever-growing
private prison industry current blossoming. The repetitive cycle of mass incarceration in America
has grown too far and must be stopped at all cost.

Lastly we have the article supporting the evidence of black lives matter encouraging justifiable
homicide of black people, In the past two months many high profile African Americans have lost
their lives to police, and recently an act of domestic terrorism occurred which resulted in the loss
of several officers. After the incident with the mass shooting of officers some attempted to paint
the main motive of the organization as one that is inherently racist or a dangerous
organizational altogether. Former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliiani, is no stranger to defending
acts of police violence in non-white communities, declared black children have a 99%
percent chance of killing each other. However, it was in fact a lie created by the mayor an
outrageous statistic that was later called into question by a few television anchors. The article
goes to reference Thomas Paine who says Give to every other human being every right that you
claim for yourself. In other words, they are certain freedoms being exacerbated and stripped
from the African American Community that are made to be a given but now looked upon as a
privilege.

A recent impending danger facing African American men and women of decent is Donald trump.
Donald trump has no political experience and has made frequent outrageous racial slurs. Donald
trump lies substantively within the modern Republican racial political tradition that seamlessly
incorporates such things as the Willie Horton ads and the uncontroversial service of Louisiana
representative Steve Scalise, who once called himself David Duke without the baggage, as
House Majority Whip. But Trumps amplification of white racial resentment matters. His
campaign has dominated the national discourse. Millions of Americans who have never heard of
Steve Scalise are seized with mortal terror of Trump, whose ubiquity in campaign coverage
makes him seem larger and more unstoppable than he is. And terror is corrosive. With Donald

trump being the complete antithesis of Barrack Obama how can we as Americans trust someone
to govern the mighty United states of America. A huge majority of the public finds Trump
repellent. Some of his current unpopularity is the soft opposition of Republican voters who are
currently listening to anti-Trump messaging from party sources and would return to the fold if he
wins the nomination.

Democracy." Daily Intelligencer. N.p., 13 Mar. 2016. Web. 09 Dec. 2016.
The election of Donald trump is the greatest present threat to the prosperity and security to the
united states quote from Larry summers. Never has a president scared the populace to a point
that regarded as the wrong outcome would in the long sweep of history risk grave damage to the
American project. Donald trump campaign was very similar to the times back in civil war. Where
blacks were being persecuted for being black, and segregation was and is still at large. This
election not only put utter fear into our hearts it gave white power organizations the step they
need to come out and wreak havoc upon the community. Trump has already flirted with the Ku
Klux Klan and disparaged and demeaned the female half of our population. He has also vowed to
kill the families of terrorist, using extreme forms of torture and agony, and forbid Muslims from
coming into our country. Time after Time he has said he will crush all those in his way; promise
to rewrite laws, and permitted punishment for articles he doesnt find pleasing. This man is an
utter disgrace to the American populace and should not be allowed to continue on representing
our great nation. There are those who believe a complete reelection with totally different
nominees would be a better solution to an incredibly difficult choice. Hillary Clinton or Donald
trump, humanities future in the hands of dishonest officials.
