Standard Rotary Pulse Encoder

The standard encoder is
used in many Krones
machines.
It generates exactly one
rotation per machine pitch,
i. e., from container to
container.
Per rotation, it generates
1 clock pulse (CP),
10 fine clock pulses (FCP),
and, depending on the
application,
additional clock pulses
400/1000/5000 (highresolution clock pulse HRCP
1 and HRCP 2)

The encoder transmits
information about the machine
movement to the
corresponding control systems.
For example:
PLC, for controlling functions
depending on preforms and
bottles
LCT3, for controlling processes,
depending on the EPROM
Danfoss VLT, for discharge
conveyor synchronisation.
And much more.

Encoder Replacement
1. Unplug the electrical
connector.
2. Remove only the four lower
screws (6 mm), as shown on
the red label.

NOTE:
Neither loosen nor
remove the screws
represented together
with the crossed-out
hand!

Encoder Replacement
3. The new encoder can be
easily be fit in the correct
position.
4. Refit and retighten the four
lower screws.
5. Reconnect the cable.
-Finished-

NOTE:
Further settings are not required, as the position
of the encoder relative to the machine is unchanged.

Mechanical Adjustment of the Encoder
Correctly mount the encoder unit.
Briefly jog the machine and mark the
normal direction of the encoder with a pen
on the housing.

NOTE:
This is only necessary if the the encoder drive unit has been disassembled or
the fixing screws have become loose or been loosened!

Mechanical Adjustment of the Encoder
Slightly loosen the clamping on the shaft.

Adjust in marked direction of the encoder in

such a way that the lamp (LED) on the
encoder just lights up.

Retighten the clamping on the shaft.

Mechanical Setting of the Container Present Switch
There are many designations for one
switch:
Container/bottle/preform present, etc.

The task of the bottle present sensor is to

inform the shift registers of the various
controllers, such as PLC, LCT3s, PP210
controller, Checkmats, etc. about the
presence of a container in the machine.
As these shift registers are controlled by
the machine encoders CP , the bottle
present signal must be set at a correct
ratio.
Incorrect switchings of functions
depending on the container are caused by
an incorrect setting.
