Computer Science Final

I decided to do my report on two of the topics since I believe that they go hand in hand.
My research paper is on the best jobs for computer science majors by salary potential and the top
10 computer science careers since I believe that the top 10 careers are basically found by salary
potential.
The very top computer science related job that I could find that earns the highest is an
Applications Architect. They earn anywhere from $66k-$183k salary (1). What they basically do
is they focus on the production and use of data in applications. They are usually in charge of one
application only that is used in businesses and need to understand how that application works
and connects to the whole system and all its components (4).
The second top job is an Applications Development Manager. They make about a $86k$162k salary (1). This job usually tends to require senior level knowledge about developing
applications (1). They oversee any development and support applications that were created or
even supported by their company (4). As of last year, there were 165,063 jobs available for
Applications Development Managers (2).

The Top third job is as an Information Systems Security Manager, they earn about $115k
- $160k (1). They are basically in charge of the IT department and the security for the whole
company and make sure that they have the appropriate data systems in place (3).
The fourth computer science related job is a Software/Hardware Engineers. They make
about $61k $160k a year (1). The Software Engineers basically create or develop application
software and Operating systems (4). They go through and make or upgrade software that can be
used for businesses and personal. Hardware Engineers are the ones who create the hardware or
devices that are used. They sometimes work alongside the software developers to create
hardware that can accommodate the new software being created (3).
The fifth position goes to Computer Network Architects. They make around $78k
$156k annually (1). Their job is to develop network systems that benefit the needs of the
company they work for whether its in the same building or far different continents (4). They
basically design, maintain and implement the networks that are used (3). They also take care of
the routers, cabling, and configuration of software/hardware (1).
The sixth job is a Data Warehouse Manager. They typically make around $115k - $154k
yearly. They oversee IT and business customers in the development of data warehouse systems
(4) and collect and analyze the data received both internally and externally (1). They basically
just manage the aspects of a data warehouse which includes data sourcing, migration, quality,
design and implementation of it (4).
The seventh career is a Data Architect. They make about $111k - $153k a year (1). They
provide the architecture for the data that an organization uses (1). They basically do everything

with the data, for example, they decide how the data is used, how its arranged, and how its
stored (4).
The eighth job available is for a Manager for Software Quality Assurance/Testing. They
make around $67k - $150k. They basically manage the testing of software to make sure it works
properly and that there are no errors, if there do happen to be errors found, they are the ones who
figure out why (4). As of last year, there were 16,179 jobs available in this field (2).
In ninth place is a UX Designer, or User Experience Designer, which make about $65k $150k (1). They focus on optimizing the users experience by seeing how the software is designed
and how it interacts with different commands. They are the ones who can request changes
directly from the software developers to fit their needs better.
The final job on the list is a Database Manager/Administrator which annually makes
$107k - $149k (1). The people who work in this field manage or analyze the data and the
resources on the storage and retrieval of that data (3). They basically manage how data is used,
processed, and stored within a company (1). As of last year, there were about 20,835 jobs
available in this field (2).
As you can see there are a lot of jobs that will pay extremely well for someone looking to
get into the computer science field. These jobs pay really well and since technology is advancing
rapidly, there will always be a need for people who know their way around computer
software/hardware to work in this field.
