Fauntleroy Church, UCC

Fauntleroy Churchs beautiful glass window looking out onto the evergreens of the
Pacific Northwest provides an inspiring and spiritual focal point for your wedding vows.
This historic setting with its breathtaking views has been a favorite ceremony site of
couples since 1908. A magnificent
window looking into a magical
forested hillside is the backdrop to
the altar and sanctuary.

About Fauntleroy Church

We are a church of the United Church of Christ and our beliefs fall in line with our national
denomination. We are passionate about following Christ and reaching out to those who stand
at the margins of society. We are an "open and affirming" congregation that believes
LGBTQ persons are created in the image of God. We hold the Bible as our central book of faith
and study it in-depth. We seek much more than cutting and pasting scripture into our
lives. Rather, we look to understand as much as we can about the society and history from
which various scripture originated, intent behind redactions, etc. We take the Bible seriously,
but we do not always take it literally. If we took it literally, we would not have a woman Pastor
as leader of our church.
When we invite outside ministers into our sanctuary to preach and lead worship (and we
consider weddings a worship service when led by a minister), we understand that you may not
believe as we do. But at the least, we like to be assured of the following:
1) that no statement will be made that marriage is a covenant that God intends only for a man
and woman,
2) that language used will emphasize equality in the marriage relationship rather than the
woman being subordinate to the man
3) that in general, you do not preach against the beliefs of our church while a guest in it
