Course Objective

This chapter involves representation of basic circuits in terms of generalized freq. &
their response.
To study the concept of coupled circuits and two port networks.

Network functions and synthesis of RL & RC circuits. Foster and Cauer forms of
synthesis .Study of filters and their classification.
UNIT-I
INTRODUCTION: Network & Circuits Systems, Basic System Properties, System
Modeling Concepts for Linear Time in variant system, Electrical Energy Sources, Star delta
transformation, Source Transformation, Network Terminology.

UNIT-II
NETWORK THEOREMS:
Mesh Analysis, Nodal Analysis, Superposition Theorem, Thevenins Theorem, Nortons
Theorem ,Maximum Power Transfer Theorem, Reciprocity theorem, Millmans Theorem,
Tellegens Theorem & Substitution Theorem. Application of all these theorems for AC circuit
analysis .

GRAPH THEORY:
Graph for given network, classification of graph and sub graphs, incidence, tie set and cut set
matrices, terminology used in Network Graph, properties of tree in a graph, Network
Analysis; Loop Analysis, Nodal Analysis, Cut-set Analysis, Duals & Duality.

NOTES FOR PAPER SETTER
The syllabus has been divided into three equal units. The question paper will contain four
SECTIONS. SECTION-A of 10 marks (compulsory question) will have 05 sub-parts. The
compulsory question must focus on main aspect of the subject.
The other three sections will have nine questions in all & each section will contain three
questions of 10 marks each. Students are required to attempt five questions in all from
SECTION-B to SECTION-D selecting at least one question from each section, but not more than
two.
