Welsh Jobs Fair Internship

Canolfan Bedwyr and the Careers and Employability Service are recruiting an intern to assist with promoting and
developing the Welsh Jobsfair, to be held on 21st March 2017. This internship is funded by the Bangor Alumni Fund.
Internship duration: 75 hours
Rate of pay: 8.50 per hour
Start date: 23rd January (or as soon as possible after this date)
Background:
This is the third year that the Welsh Jobsfair has been held. Around 30 employers attend the Fair and students have
an opportunity to network with them and understand more about the needs for bilingual skills in the workplace.
The Fair will enable employers from various fields to have stalls and speak to Bangor students about jobs in their
establishments which require skills in Welsh. Students will have an opportunity to interact with prospective
employers to understand how their skills as Welsh speakers and/or students who have studied through the medium
of Welsh are relevant to the world of work.
Intern Responsibilities:
1. Work in collaboration with Canolfan Bedwyr and the Careers Service to ensure that employers from various
fields attend the event, and contact employers via e-mails and on the phone.
2. Produce a marketing/information pack for the Fair.
3. Co-ordinate the event and contact different departments such as Conferences, Estates etc.
4. Collaborate with UMCB to market the event widely amongst students, and use various methods (e.e. one-toone chats, group presentations, social media and e-mails) to promote the event intensively amongst
students.
5. Assist with the administrative arrangement to ensure that the event progresses smoothly
6. Contact students after the event to see if their perceptions/understanding of Welsh skills in the workplace
have changed.
