Method of Selecting Teams: A


t the beginning of the season, the teacher
will have a day of the students doing different activities related to lacrosse.
The teacher will observe and then pick the teams after class. The teams
will be based off of skill levels, fitness levels, gender and personalities to
make sure every team is equal and everyone is comfortable with their
team.

Coach

Role Descriptor: The role of the coach is to lead


practices. Make sure that everyone on the team is
cooperating. And also comes up with plays and strategies
for the teams to use during games.
Task/ Duties:
- Learn the rules of the game
- Learn the personalities of each player on the team
- Make a code of conduct for the team to follow
- Learn where each player performs best
- Make plays for the team

Skills and Attributes:


- Good Communication skills
- Understand players
- Be familiar with the team
- Be fair with all players on the team

Captain

Role Descriptor: The role of each teams captain is to


make sure that all players on their team are prepared for
the season everyday, ( Proper shoes, correct color shirt
and a good attitude.)
Task/ Duties:
- Be at every game and practice
- Come prepared for every game and practice
- Reach out to other teammates before each lesson
- Coin toss before games
- Become familiar with the team
- Report to the coach with any problems on the team
Skills and Attributes:
- Be able to work with everyone on the team
- Cooperate with other teams
- Fair play
- Responsibly report to the coach with any problems or
concerns

Referees
Role Descriptor: The referees are responsible to
ensure that all players are able to perform inside the
boundaries of the game and league rules. Referees
should not be persuaded to favor one team over others.
Task/ Duties:
- Learn the rules of the game
- Call captains together for pregame routines
- Briefly explaining your Calls
- Be fair to every team
- Maintain the flow of each game

Skills/ Attributes:
- Be very familiar with the rules of the game
- Have the ability to focus on the game
- Demonstrate fairness to all players and teams

Statistician

Role Descriptor: The statistician is responsible for


collecting all data and stats of every player and team, then
being able to record that data to the classes board.

Task/ Duties:
- Collect data after every game
- Make an organized sheet to relay onto the class
board
- Record stats honestly

Skills/ Attributes:
- Good communication skills
- Organization
- Honesty

Fitness Specialist

Role Descriptor: Make sures everyone stretches before


each class by leading a warm up. Knows why each stretch
is important and how to properly do them incase someone
needs help.

Task/ Duties:
- Come up with a warm up routine before each class
- Know different types of stretches and what muscle
group is being used
- Know how to properly do each stretch

Skills/ Attributes:
- Have knowledge of different stretches
- Be able to help others if they need it
- Know where each muscle group is

Historian
Role Descriptor: The historian's role is to provide the
class with a fact about lacrosse relating to that date.
Task/ Duties:
- Research historical facts about lacrosse for every day
of class
- Provide the class with the fact during the informing
routine before the class activities

Skills/ Attributes:
- Have access to information about the history of
lacrosse
- Have the responsibility to share the class with factual
info

Videographers

Role Descriptor: While on duty team the videographers


are responsible for recording the games from different
angles and perspectives. The videographers have to make
a whole collaboration of videos for the end of the season.

Task/ Duties:
- Record the class in playing time as much as possible
- Know how to use a GoPro
- Be able to take the videos and make them into a
collaboration for the end of the semester
Skills/ Attributes:
- Know how to use a Gopro and Gopro studio
- Time management
- Creativity

Commentators

Role Descriptor: Commentators need to work with the


videographers, the commentators need to commentate the
sport which means they need to know the names of all the
students, the rules of the game and use enthusiasm. They
could also do voice overs the recordings.
Task/ Duties:
- Know all the rules of the sport
- Know all the names of each player
- Have an idea of each players stats
- Work with the videographers

Skills/ Attributes:
- Have knowledge of lacrosse
- Have knowledge of the names of the players
- Know stats
- Provide the video with true facts about the league
- Have fun and use enthusiasm

Media Relations
Role Descriptor: Media relations role is to make the class
league public to the rest of the school so that the school
can be aware and follow up with how each team is doing.
Task/ Duties:
- Make flyers for the school to be aware of the league
- Have a twitter page to keep followers up to date
- Be able to take photos of events/ games

Skills/ Attributes:
- Be able to get the league known to the school
- Get people to follow the league's twitter page
- Be able to make flyers
- Have access to twitter

Event Coordinators

Role Descriptor: The Event Coordinator is responsible for


Planning events for the league to get themselves known
by the community. Making sure everyone is involved in the
league during the events.
Task/ Duties:
- Know how to get the league known to the community
- Plan events to bring the community to watch the
league play. ( school wide event)

Skills/ Attributes:
- Good people skills
- Communication skills
- Responsible for league events

Schedulers

Role Descriptor The Schedulers ne to work together to


make a proper schedule for each week so that each team
plays an equal amount of time, and they decide who is on
duty team. They make schedules for preseason, regular
season and playoffs.

Task/ Duties:
- Create Equal Schedules
- Make sure each team has fair playing time
- Make sure there is a variety of which teams are
playing against each other.

Skills/ Attributes:
- Make an organized schedule
- Responsibility for telling the league who is playing
who and which team is on duty

Score Keepers

Role Descriptor: Making sure they record the score of


each game and post it to the class board for everyone in
the class and community who is following the league to
see.

Tasks/ Duties:
- Get the final scores after every game
- Post the scores to the class board
- Inform media relations what the scores were

Skills/ Attributes:
- Responsibility
- Communication skills
- Collect scores after every preseason, regular season
and playoff game.

Coaches Coordinator
Role Descriptor: Help out the coaches of the league. If
the coaches have any questions the coaches coordinator
is there to help. Coaches coordinators give the coaches
advice on how to be a better coach.

Tasks/ Duties:
- Be a guide for the coaches
- Provide the coaches with advice
- Help coaches come up with code of conducts
- Answer any questions some coaches have

- Communication skills
- Know the roles of a coach
- Knows how to deal with problems and find solutions

Captains Coordinator
Role Descriptor: Help out the captains of the league. If
the captains have any questions the captains coordinator
is there to help. Captain coordinators give the captain's
advice on how to be a better captain.

- Answer any questions captains might have about their
role have

Season Outline: Twenty Lessons

Introduce History of lacrosse


Introduce Class format

Teach students catching and passing a lacrosse ball


Have students do catching and passing activities so the teacher can
complete the student evaluations.

Announce the teams and have them pick their team name and color.
Have them choose the coaches and captains of the team
Coaches lead the first team practice skill upon entry.

Teacher teaches about different positions of lacrosse (Goalie, Offense,


Defense)
Teams scrimmage against one another and students rotate positions so
everyone experience each position.

Explain the duty teams and team/ league roles to the class.
Students pick their desired roles.
Students scrimmage against each other while the duty team practices their

Championship Game- Top 2 teams with the most wins in


playoffs compete. The winner of the championship game
is the winning team of the league!

League Rules
- 4 teams play at a time, 1 team on duty.
- The games will be played on each half
of the court. Playing with the width of the
court.
- Games will be timed, 10 minutes each
- Each score = 1 pt. Cant shoot inside the
goalies box.
- 1 student in goal 5 students in field,
everyone is playing no subs.
- In the case where a student is absent and a team is down 1 player
then the opposing team will have a sub to make an equal number of
players on the field.
- Tennis balls are used instead of lacrosse ball
- Goalie has helmet on at all times while playing.
- Offense can not be offsides
- Must attempt to cradle the ball in the lacrosse stick while running
down the field.
- Penalties result in 1 minute suspension in game.

- Unnecessary Roughness

Culminating Event
School Wide Event:
- On the 19th day of the season the C
haug Lax Heros will host a game
for the whole school to see.
- Flyers will be sent out 2 weeks in advance. (See Below)
- There will be 2 teams playing in this event
- The teams will be selected by the teacher, evenly and equally
distributing players based on skill level and personality. This means
teams will be split up but only for this one game.
- The School Wide Event will be a full court game. 10 players per team
on the court at a time.
- 15 minute halves.

Chaugs Lax Heros


Support the League
Come Support Ms. Duncans B- block P.E class
Lacrosse League. The league is call the Chaug P.E
Lax Heros. The class is set up as a professional
lacrosse season and league. Including 5 teams, 30
players, coaches captains referees and more!

The league is currently in their regular season. They


just finished their 3 day Playoff season. The top 2
teams after the playoff season play against each other
for the final championship game. Those two teams are;
The Panthers and The Falcons. The championship
game will be held on Thursday November 25th at 11
am in the gym! Come support!

The Panthers are in first place with 5 wins and 0


losses in the playoff round and a total of 68
points. Their top scorer is Stevie Nicks, with 18
total points throughout the season and 10 assist.
The Panthers work great together on offense and
defense. They are always using communication
on and off the field. States Ms. Duncan, They
strategize each game every day before the go
out there!

The Rest of The League


The other teams of the league are; The Lions,
The Falcons, The Eagles and The Tigers. The
Lions top scorer is Bob Marley- with 17 season
points and 2 assist. The Falcons have John
Denver with 16 points and 7 assist. Eagles fan
favorite is Bruce Springsteen who has 15 points
and 8 assist. And the Tigers top scorer with 15
points and 6 assist is Adele.

Behavior
Fairplay/ Sportsmanship Statements:
- All students must show respect to themselves, other
players in the league and the referees.
- All players must show fair play to everyone in the
league.
- Respect all of the equipment
- Make sure each player gets equal playing times
throughout the whole season.
- There is no place for taunting or harassing other
players or officials.

Fairplay/ Sportsmanship Assessment


Each student will be assessed by their teacher at the end of the semester, based on
how their fair play and sportsmanship throughout the lacrosse season. Each student will
get their graded assessment on the last day of the season.
0 = never; 1 = rarely; 2 = often; 3 = always
