Reflection:
My SIOP Lesson was combined with my Tech Lesson. I taught it in Mr.
Owens 4 grade class. I really liked this combination of lessons. I think the fact that
the students had to share multiple times about their topic would have been really
beneficial if there were any ELLs in the classroom.
The students had to first share their ideas on their topic with the members of
their group. Then, once they had finished their Google Slides, each group had to
share their presentations with the whole class. I believe this helped them retain the
information because they were having to verbally summarize their ideas more than
once. I also liked the fact that the students got to learn how to use Google Slides at
such a young age. I never learned Google Slides until this year.
If I were going to do anything differently I think I would choose a different
topic to have them create a presentation about. This one just seemed a little bit
repetitive as far as the sections go. They seemed to all have a lot of similarities. If I
were to do this again I would want to have each group get a whole chapter from
this book or at least enough reading material that they can find good information
to share with the class
When I watched the video of me teaching it felt like I was kind of nervous at
the start of the lesson. I need to start the lesson off as calmly and confidently as I
gave the rest of the lesson. I also noticed that I say like and um a lot. I need to
stop it was annoying. Over all the lesson went really well and the students created
some great presentations.
