Bachelor of Engineering in
Computer and Information Systems Engineering

Jan 2012 Dec 2015

NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET), Karachi Pakistan

CGPA: 2.801 out of 4
Final Research Project
Title: Wi-Fi and smartphone based indoor real-time localization system for merchandise advertisements
and emergency control
This project is a Wi-Fi based system that primarily utilizes the existing Wi-Fi network infrastructure. The system has
been tested to identify the location of the mobile phone equipped user in our university's lab area without any farreaching manual explanation. For this, a few novel mechanisms were employed, one of them being: averaging out the
RSSI values over three iterations to minimize the drastic multipath propagation of signals associated with Wi-Fi routers.
The distance acquired nullified the error significantly. This indoor localization systems accuracy is almost equivalent to
existing techniques that require arduous, costly methods for determining position indoors.
