Testing Preparation Checklist

Before the day of the test:

All staff involved in testing must go through the prepared PowerPoint. MCA PowerPoint
Staff who will be Test Monitors (you will supervise the testing session) must go through the
online Test Monitor Certification Course. If you gave the OLPA, you should have already

completed this. Online Certification Course


Everyone involved in online testing must complete a non-disclosure agreement.
All students should complete the Online Student Tutorial if s/he has not taken the OLPA. (Eg:
new/absent/exempt students from this winter) Student Tutorial Video (Recommended that all

staff watch this with their whole class (4 min.)


Teachers received student MARRS numbers (from Bev).
The Quick Guide will be available for all staff involved in monitoring. There is a hard copy in
your mailbox, and it will be sent via e-mail as well.

On the day of the test:

Josh has created your testing sessions with the necessary test codes (These will be shared with

you via e-mail and they will also be posted in the labs).
Go to the lab and test using the Pearson icon at the bottom of the screen. (Students will only
need their MARRS numbers and Test Code to sign in. The proctor (Jen Kral) will not need to

confirm the students.

5th and 6th may use the Formula Sheets. All grade levels may use scratch paper so long as

there is no writing on it.


BE PATIENT, IT MAY TAKE A LITTLE WHILE FOR THE TEST SESSION TO LOAD

Good to know:
Special Education
Angie Kahle has worked with special education teachers to determine the correct testing choice
- MCAII, MCA-M, and MTAS.
Angie Kahle has worked with special education teachers to determine accommodations that
reflect the IEP.
MTAS Angie Kahle has trained the teachers giving this assessment. All teachers giving the
MTAS must be trained. Results are entered by Deb in SPED.

There should not be last minute changes or adjustments made for SPED students without a
district sign off on the change.

LEP- English Learners


A new-to-country English learner is a student who is identified as LEP in MARSS and first
enrolled in a U.S. school within 12 months of the first day of the Title I Acct window. The
enrollment date is the new-to country date p. 124
New-to-country students can be removed from AYP proficiency and MMR calculations but they
are included in participation
For reading, if new-to country students take ACCESS we can use that for reading participation.
This code must be on answer doc or shared with assessment office. p.125
Accommodations for ELL students need to be charted by buildings.
LEP has a GRAD exception for students who have been in the country for four years or less. It
is based on the entry date and should be examined from the senior year/graduation year back.
Pages 127-128 in Procedures Manual addresses this.
