Mr. Tim Parker
Tim Parker, Jr. joined the family
business, Parker Towing Company, in
1974 after serving two years in the
United States Army and five years
with the Lykes Brothers Steamship
Company. He now serves as Chairman
and CEO, following in his father Tim
Parker, Sr.s footsteps.

State Port Authority, the National Waterways Conference, and

the West Alabama Traffic and Transportation Club. He has also
had significant involvement in numerous civic organizations in his
community such as the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development
Authority and United Way of Tuscaloosa. He served three terms
in the Alabama State Legislature, was named Tuscaloosa Civitan
Club Citizen of the Year and received the University of Alabamas
Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2014, he and wife Cathy were
celebrated by the United Way of Western Alabamas Alexis de
Tocqueville Societys Family of the Year.

Parker Towing Company is one of the

largest barge lines in the southeastern
United States, operating a fleet of towboats and over 350 open
and covered hopper barges, as well as a fleet of 30,000 BBL tank
barges transporting commodities such as coal, steel, grain, forest
products, cement and petroleum products. The company also
operates terminals for loading and unloading barges, as well as a
shipyard and a machine shop.

Tuscaloosa has long relied on the Black Warrior River for

industrial jobs, and local companies including Parker Towing
have created thousands of employment opportunities for the
county. Tims leadership in industry organizations has ensured
that these jobs remain in the West Alabama area. Tims life, both
professionally and personally, has centered around service to his
community, state and country. He continues to lead by example
and inspires his employees by living a life of dedicated service to
his industry and community.

Tim is currently on the Board of Directors for Mercedes-Benz

U.S. International, Inc., and has served on the boards of a wide
variety of organizations over the years including the Alabama

Continuing the strong tradition of the family-owned business, Tim

has passed on this work ethic and strong family values to his son,
Tim Parker III, who serves as President of Parker Towing.

Angus R. Cooper II began his career at Cooper/T.

Smith Corporation, one of Americas oldest and
largest stevedoring and maritime firms, after his
college graduation from the University of Alabama in
1960. Joining his father, Ervin Cooper, Angus became
the third generation to carry on the family business.

Chad Pregracke founded Living Lands & Waters

in 1998 to address the environmental issues of
the American Inland Waterways after spending
his formative years working on the Mississippi and
Illinois Rivers and seeing first-hand how neglected
these rivers were. Today, the organization Chad
founded has grown to include a full staff and fleet
of equipment. Each year, the crew spends time in nine states along the
Mississippi, Illinois and Ohio Rivers, as well as many of their tributaries.
Since the projects inception, Chad, his crew and over 98,000 volunteers
have collected 9.2 million pounds of debris.

Under his direction, Cooper/T. Smith Corporation has grown and now
operates in 37 ports on the East, Gulf and West Coasts of the United
States, and has expanded internationally to operate in Brazil, Colombia and
Mexico. Cooper/T. Smith has increased its services to the ship docking and
undocking, mooring, warehousing, barging and barge towing businesses.
Today, the company is a progressive and innovative organization employing
thousands worldwide, and impacts an array of industries throughout
the world from agriculture, energy and chemicals, to construction, food
service and tourism.
Angus currently serves on the Board of Directors of IBERIABANK, the
Coast Guard Foundation and Crescent Towing & Salvage Co., Inc. He is
Vice President of Crimson Tide Foundation and a member of the Chief
Executives Organization, Inc. Angus has received several honors including
being named the Maritime Person of the Year in 2005 by the Propeller
Club of New Orleans and he received the 14th International Maritime Hall
of Fame Award in 2007. In 2009, Angus Cooper was inducted into the
Alabama Academy of Honor and was inducted into the Alabama Business
Hall of Fame in 2013.

Most recently, the organization has expanded its mission to include

educational workshops, and in 2016 Living Lands & Waters hosted 47
educational events, reaching over 1,400 students and educators. In 2007,
Chad initiated the MillionTrees Project, and since then, over one million
trees have been planted to help protect the environment of the river.
Living Lands & Waters has also implemented an Invasive Species Removal
workshop with eight different events and over 250 volunteers removing
non-native species from the ecosystem.
Chads vision, work-ethic and leadership have been recognized by many
organizations over the years. Most notably, Chad received the prestigious
Jefferson Award for Public Service, in 2002, and in 2013 he was named
CNN Hero of the Year.
