Georges Braque

Georges Braque was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist,
draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor.
Braque was a cubist and Faucist. Cubism is when something is painted from
multiple perspectives at once and are mashed together in the same image.
Braque worked closely together with Pablo Picasso between the years of 1908
and 1912 to create Cubism. when objects shattered into fragments appeared in
my painting about 1909; this for me was a way of getting closest to the object..
.Fragmentation helped me to establish space and movement in space

Braque also developed a sense of style with Fauism. Fauvism is when brilliant
vivid colours are used to represent emotional response.

Braque used many different materials in his paintings to distinguish a better
sense of texture and depth to his work, He collaged letters onto paintings,
blended colours into sand and mimicked wood grain and marble in his work.

Braque grew up in Le Harve and trained to be a house painter like his father and
but he also studied artistic painting at cole des Beaux-Arts. In 1904 Braque
painted at the Acadmie Humbert and it was here that he met Marie Laurencin
and Francis Picabia.
