Please ensure that
children's homework is
signed every night.
Any parent that wishes to
speak to a teacher about
their child's progress
please make an
appointment through the
office.
The teaching of maths
takes place from 2nd -6th
class every morning. The
classes are separated
into their class groupings
whereby they may be
taught by different
teachers. After staff
meetings the staff found
this the best way to
teach mathematics. All
class groupings will
receive similar
homework.

Cross Country Run


Students from all classes have been chosen to represent Donard N.S. at
Valleymount Cross Country Run. Mary Kelly will continue athletics training
during school every Wednesday.
Swimming
Swimming continues for 1st & 2nd classes Monday 17th. Reminder there will
also be a session on Friday 21st.
Credit Union Art
All children who drew a picture for the Credit Union art competition were
entered.
Curriculum Day
Teachers attended language Curriculum day on Monday 10th.The new
curriculum will be phased in over the next number of years across all
classes. Much more emphasis will be placed upon oral language than our
current curriculum.
Cloghlan Cup blitz for boys in Blessington Friday 21st October.
Craft Fair
Parent Association have organised a Christmas Craft fair which will take
place on Sunday in the 4th December in the Community Hall Donard
Music Generation Classes.
Welcome to our new music teachers Bernard foundation, Tracy coral and
Fiona piano teacher.

Morning Line up
Junior Infants - first class will line up at the front of the school in the
mornings. The rest of the classes will line up in the back yard.
Homework
Remember to sign homework every night reading is a large part of
homework.
Uniforms
Please ensure that your child is in full uniform every day. Please put your
childs name on all jumpers.
Yard
Leather balls have been banned from the yard to avoid injuries
Insurance
The Board of Management have kindly paid for the pupils person insurance
for all pupils once again this year.
Dunlavin Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival 4th -6th November. Venuss St. Nicholas Church of Ireland &
St. Nicholas of Myra Church. Categories- advanced, intermediate, beginners,
novelty, schools, and children (5-7),8-10 & 11+). Everyone is welcome to
participate contact Pauline at 087 6183903 or Orna at 045 401871.
Witch Walk will take place on the final day of this term Friday 28 th October
Buddy Bench to be placed in the school yard thanks to all involved.
