My Favourite Song
Introduction
"You and a partner are going to give a presentation about your favourite song."
Objectives
Write and practise dialogues for talking about music and giving opinions
Develop speaking skills
Procedure
1) Make a list of your three favourite bands or singers.
2) Find another student who likes one of the same groups as you. This person will be your partner.
3) In pairs choose your favourite song by the group. Your presentation will have 3 parts and you can use
presentation software such as Powerpoint to prepare it.
4) In Part 1 of your presentation you have to explain:
The history of the group or singer (where and when they started; who are the members of the band etc)
Describe the different members of the band.
Name their most popular songs.
What sort of people like their music?
Describe their sound.
5) Part 2 Your song.
Both of you have to:
Say why you like this song.
Say how the song makes you feel.
Say when you like to listen to it.
Explain what the song means.
Quote your favourite line.
6) Part 3 play the song and show the lyrics. Answer any questions the class may have.
