SURPASS hiT 7300 - Standard Training for

Service (FT0221-00S)

Aim
The main objective of this training path is to enable the participant to perform all OAM
tasks. All topics are clearly outlined in the individual course contents. FT2212 covers
general topics that allow the participant to perform all daily routine tasks as advised.
To get a deeper understanding and background about these and further tasks the
constitutive courses FT9223, FT2219 and FT2313 are designed. They cover OAM
and Commissioning as well as Planning tasks in various fields.
For all product courses training equipment is prepared to simulate field conditions
and is used to perform a variety of Hands-On exercises.
The participant will be able to perform all daily routine and a great many advanced
tasks on the network management system.
Moreover, a variety of recommended technology courses will give the participant a
comprehensive understanding and solid background to carry out daily work even
more efficiently.
Target Group
Service
Prerequisites
Some basic knowledge in DWDM and Fiber Optics is required.

d-lab

What is d-lab?
Distant lab or d-lab is a distant electronic laboratory (set of electronic equipment)
which can be accessed remotely

via Internet or
independently from the location of the equipment
available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
worldwide access possible

For the user d-lab offers the same functionality as a lab next door if the functions of
the equipment can be handled via PC controlled interfaces.
Only real hands-on activities like "insert/change modules" are not possible via remote
access.
System Requirements

Every Local PC has to be connected to the Internet (min 64kbit/s per PC

connection is recommended)

Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher has to be installed on every

Local PC

Browser settings/options to be enabled

- Cookies enabled
- JavaScript enabled
- Java enabled
- Java RE 1.5.x (Java Run Time Environment)
- instead of Java, a Citrix Webclient can also be used

On-Site Firewall configuration

- Info: A Citrix Server is used to connect to the lab environment, i.e. a Citrix client
is used which is connected to the server. Usually following ports should be already
preconfigured in your firewall and no special configuration should be necessary.
Check with your administrator if your firewall is properly set.
- Port 443 is used for the Citrix ICA-client
- Port 80 is used for web server communication
- IMPORTANT: d-lab/classroom connection test has to be performed not later than
1 week prior to start of training. TI requires contact person in writing to initiate all
further steps. System requirements for using d-lab
