The term civil engineering describes engineering work performed by civilians

for nonmilitary purposes, in general it describes the profession of designing and

executing structural works for the general public and the communal environment
For me my dream project is the building of a hydroelectric dam something like
The Three Gorges Dam in China
Reservoirs created by dams provide water for activities such as irrigation,
human consumption, industrial use, aquaculture, and navigability.
One big benefit gained from the this project is the high amounts of power it is
producing, the dam takes advantage of the environment, where the energy it
produces is derived from a renewable source
Also this Dam can created a wider transport network : The dam widened the
river, making it more navigable than ever, so a larger boats and ships can pass
through to the delta, resulting to a more complex but beneficial transport
network for people and goods.
But this project can cause many Cons:
First of all this project influence on the environment and ecology of the reservoir
area and the River.
Also we have a migration problem: Migration problem is the biggest difficult
point of the Project. The fund for migration can covers 40% of the total
investment. After the water storage, about 40 cities and towns are flooded.
It causes water pollution: There is quite a lot of land erosion along the River,
particularly taking place upstream, which results in high amounts of water
pollution.
Project like this need many Actors: Responsible for the construction,
International and Financial Institutions, Environmental justice organisations
and other supporters and the government responsible for the transmission
work,
For me I want to be the project manager: The key to success within a DAM
project is to manage your stakeholders and your project team. As someone
who is planning a project I have to know who I am working with and what
the people around me need and expect from me. To some people a
personal and trustful relationship is more important than just plain facts.
Others are into details and need more information a mainly professional
relationship. When planning a DAM project I need to ask myself who will
make the decisions when it comes to my project and who has influence in
this matter, who has influence in my project team and so on.

Taking care of the project environment is especially important when you

work with different cultures and/or languages. Not caring for those
differences can mean that you will regret that later on.
