MANAGEMENT

Whilst Keppel has been appointed as the operator of Baku Shipyard, its management team compose of
Senior representatives from its main shareholder Socar, as well as a committed team of qualified and experienced middle management to drive and propel Baku Shipyard forward to achieve its mission and vision.

Message from the GM

We continue to seek new opportunities such as navy ships,

process modules, subsea structures, in order to maximize the
utilization of our yards capabilities and capacities and to
widen our spectrum of business offerings to clients.

Baku Shipyard was established

to provide shipbuilding and ship
repair services to the offshore and
marine industry within Caspian
Region. In the short span of 3
years since inauguration, Baku
Shipyard has achieved commendable success in undertaking a
major new build subsea construction vessel for BP, semi-submersible pontoons, tug boat, Crewboats
and also over 50 afloat repairs
and dockings. In doing so, we
always put priority on HSE and
Quality aspects in our operation
philosophy. In this regards we have
achieved accreditation of
ISO 9001-2008, ISO 14001-2004

and OHSAS 18001-2007 on Safety

and Quality Management System.
Despite the downturn in the Oil
and Gas industry due to the prolonged low oil prices that affected
our business outlooks, we remain
determined and focused to develop
local skillsets, focusing on customer satisfaction and derive values
for our shareholders in all our
undertakings. We continue to seek
new opportunities such as navy
ships, process modules, subsea
structures, in order to maximize
the utilization of our yards capabilities and capacities and to
widen our spectrum of business
offerings to clients.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients, our

shareholders and our committed team of management and
workers for their support and
contribution in our endeavors
to develop Baku Shipyard into a
renowned yard in the Caspian
Region.
Thank you.

supported by the water, a total compliant medium

which allows the vessel to receive support where
applied by displacement on the hull of the vessel,
thus providing the pressure necessary to support the
distributed weight of the vessel. The compliancy
provided by the buoyancy forces does not impose
point loads on the vessels hull.
TTS is capable to determined very accurate weight
and COG (LCG, TCG) of any vessel, pontoon, barge
etc. It gives a big specter of possibility, for example
calculation of exact quantity of ballast which should
be add before launching vessel.
Block assembly mode of transferring system allows
the shipyard to build mega blocks without being
limited by crane. By using trolleys lifting system,
motor and manipulators the system can accurately
position a block for assembly. This operation can be
done without using crane.

The Ship Transfer System is designed to transfer load

onto floating dock and unload from the floating dock.
While at shore, the transfer system can move the
ship longitudinally/transversely into specific working
position/dry berths.
TTS is transferring vessels on fluid bed mode (zone
mode). TTS fluid bed a condition equal to the
ships buoyance condition. A vessel is designed to be

SHIPBUILDING

lthough our shipyard is just 3 years old,

we have already realized several huge
projects, such as building of Floating
Dock, Tug Boat, Crew Boats, Subsea Construction
Vessel, Pontoons for Semi etc. Baku Shipyard has
annual production capacity equal to 25 000 tons of
steel. In shipbuilding scale is equal to 4 x 15000 ton
or 2 x 75000 ton tankers, 4 x 100m Platform supply
vessel, etc.

Socar-1 designed and built as steel hull, twin

screw tug boat equipped with two diesel propulsion engines totally 400 PS and two 360 degree
steerable propellers with nozzles and engaged in
berthing and unbrething for a ship in the harbor
and towage in coastal waters. Now the vessel is
under balance of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping
JSV and makes towing works for big vessels, barges in Caspian Sea. Vessel capable of performing
towage, assistance, berthing of large containerships, bulk carriers, VLCCs in the ports with
capability for fire-fighting and oil pollution control. The new tug is expected to be used to
support Bakus new port and its operations.

and 2027. The $378 million facility is a unique
vessel built under DNV (Det Norske Veritas)
GL's classification supervision. SCV Khankendi
is jointly constructed at both Keppel Singmarines
shipyard and Baku Shipyard. Two hull strips of
the vessel have been constructed in Singapore and
have been shipped via the Suez to the Black Sea
and then through the Russian rivers Volga and
Don to the newly established Baku Shipyard for
the final joining with the bow block and hook-up
with the accommodation block.

Two hull strips, Bow block and LQ blocks have been
integrated on shore with the help of Trolley Transfer
System and Gantry crane. Innovative method of integration has been developed for this operation which
allows to minimize any possible gap and misalignment
between Mega Blocks.
The Vessel has been equipped by different systems that
were installed and calibrated in Baku Shipyard:
-DP3 system (it is a computer-controlled system to automatically maintain a vessels position and heading by
using its propellers and thrusters)
- Diving system with 7 chambers, two dedicated moonpools for diving bell and two HLB

Pontoon & Upper Hull Block modules for Semi-Submersible Rig

On the 16th of September 2013, Caspian Shipyard Company (CSC) signed contract with Baku
Shipyard for undertaking fabrication of the pontoons and upper blocks for the construction of a
semisubmersible drilling rig.
The $800 million semi-submersible drilling rig
was awarded by Caspian Drilling Company (CDC)
to two subsidiaries of Keppel Offshore & Marine
Company with Caspian Rigbuilders and Caspian
Shipyard Company (CSC).
The DSS 38M rig is a Keppel design for a drilling
depth of up to 40,000 ft (12,192 m) and operations
in 1,000 m (3,280 ft) water depth. To withstand
high winds speeds in the Caspian Sea.
An 800 m (2,625 ft) self-contained eight-point

aku Shipyard has annual capacity to accept 100 different types of vessels for ship repair
activities. Floating dock, TTS ship transfer system, repair slab for more than
10 vessels, etc. are tools to realize any kind of ship repair job.
Baku Shipyard has completed works on the dock repair and upgrades of three installation vessels - the Pipe Lay Barge Israfil Huseynov, the Diving Support Vessel Tofiq Ismayilov and
the Derrick Barge Azerbaijan, within the framework of the second stage of development of a
