The Wolfes Den

Happy New Year to you ALL!!

As we begin this 2017, changes are coming quickly.
Freeport is at peak time for businesses to come here,
more jobs, need good relations with these businesses.
And also, we have the swearing in of our New President Donald J. Trump! What a ride
that has been. Are you now realizing that the main stream Media tells you Lies, to riddle
your mind of the what-ifs? It is becoming harder each day to know what is the truth?
How many of you really care about this Nation as a whole? We are Not looking too
good. From the rioting of large cities, the # of murders in Chicago is also a disgrace to the
Democrats. You see how well you end up with those you put in charge are just stealing
money and making up Lies along the way. The democrats have been ruining our country
for a very long time. I doubt half of them really know what they are doing is unsafe to
people who are Legally here. Now they mention 10,000 more illegals coming up thru
Mexico. These are African Jungle hunters, are saying Obama says to come to USA and
he will help them get rich, they have a Mafia of they own. All men 16-55, like Muslims.
So, we do have a Border problem? There is nothing wrong with every illegal person here
in the USA to be vetted. We are legal-citizens and trust me, they know enough of us to
hunt you down if needed. Why is that we are held to stricter Laws than an illegal? Why
do sanctuary cities allow open non-returnable people to roam the streets freely. As we just
wait for another rape or murder. Bombs, with illogical ways for USA, spells trouble.
Personally, I have been to the Border few years back. There is a lot of open Land there.
But how else can we secure our Borders if there isnt support from the Govt. to see the
danger lurking here already. You watch Congress now asking serious heads of depts.
Questions about security to the home-land and the people that should represent the office,
decides to send in secretary of the janitor to answer for them. That which only raises the
incompetency of that Dept. Just as the IRS is messed up.
I admire Trey Gowdys assertiveness when searching thru all those E-mails, using up tax
dollars to review and search so much crap it looks silly to watch. No one yet has been
arrested for any of the crimes still to be discovered from the Clintons. Funny, no one
arrested, but 33 lives of people (who was around Hillary) and know they secrets, have
died before the trial to testify what they know. Suspicious? Hell yes it is.
Ask yourself, why is it so difficult to see so many people who forged Lies under Oath
and even before Congress? The people who do not get killed mysteriously, shows up and
answers, no comment, I plead the 5th, on almost every question asked to them? Doesnt
it usually show a sign of Guilt to some extent when a person in court refuses to answer
questions? To us Normal citizens, we would be in jail for refusing to say what we know
when asked, Im sure. Why are they different from the same Laws in place?
People do get convicted by pure facts founded in the investigation. Why hasnt 1 person
from the Clintons field of BS been arrested? If its just a matter of having an attorney
speaking for you, then why is there a different treatment for those who do pay big money
just to have a puppet dance for them? Why has the system become such a revenue of
deceit that there is no True Justice anymore?
As I say that Obama releases more of the most terrible people on the planet out from
Gitmo, letting them loose on us, the Public. The talk that Obama has been saying this last
few months is outrageous! How someone hasnt stopped him from threatening to be a
watch dog on Trump? Really? He says to Trump dont attempt to use executive orders to
change back the damages done by Obama and his Klan of idiots. He just wont leave.
Even in our small world of Walton County, there must be people chosen or elected to
oversee the expenses, the dealings going on. Remember how South Walton was scammed
over $600,000. This happens when you come when doing sales of property. There have
been tons of faulty property lines throughout the entire county. Who has the most money
or who knows the right people/family seems to be the way to settle. Courts just keep tying
up problems between neighbors, between Law Enforcement, between Lawyers, even
between Judges. Is our Cops keeping us safe or antagonizing drivers to get you in jail?
Think about that for a second. The town we live is Not that Big. Seems as if everyone
knows your business, as they try and use it against you or Lie about what they think of
you. For Judges to have replacements that are unaware of a previous order is ridiculous!
You got people charged with offenses, yet the attorney plays games with the system
because it is about who you know, what the real issue at hand is. Sometimes things can
turn deadly quite quickly. We have a Meth problem that have Zombie-like people trying
to steal from you or hurt you. We have so many deputies in this County. Why hasnt there
been a small task force of checking residences known to sell drugs? They brag on the dogs
they have here too. Bust them dealers, heroin dealers too. Find them help, or shoot them?
If you havent noticed there is a program on TV just like Cops, but instead its Live on
the Air from cities around and somehow Walton County is in on it? I know we dont get
the crimes and problems of the larger cities, why are we involved with that program? All
for Domestic Violence calls or searches of cars they pull over? Anyone know how much
revenue this is making for us? Or is it only costing the citizens more of a risk to being
messed with by the Law. Make up a reason to pull you over, then you are done with.

GOD IS WITH US
Psalm 139:7-12
W. Graham Scroggie, in his commentary
on the Psalms, tells the story of an
atheist who wanted to persuade his
young son with his philosophy of life,
who much to his concern was getting
interested in the Christian faith. So this
atheist father prepared this very
attractive plaque and hung it on the wall
where his son could see it everyday. This
plaque said, "GOD IS NOWHERE."

Walton commissioners narrow the search

to 6 beachfront parcels
Tourist Development Council head Jay Tusa presented 54 parcels to the Board of
County Commissioners. However, Tusa recommended only six of the parcels, as
most of the other properties were not beachfront. Dune Allen properties did not
make the final six. Beginning on the west end, Tusa recommended a parcel offered for $1.8 million in Miramar Beach that could accommodate 40-45 parking
spaces. Fort Panic and the Oyster Lake outfall that he described as attractive and
would allow the county to have control of the outfall. The total cost would be
$6.5 million. Located 1.16 miles from Ed Walline Park is Highlands House Bed
and Breakfast. If purchased, the county would own 1,000 feet of beach. "I would
like to move forward to next phase with this one due to the 1,000 feet of beach,"
he said. "We could put in restrooms and 50 parking spaces. Having something
not too far from Ed Walline might be a good idea, as its lot stays full." more.

Troubling Trend: Depression Rates

Rising in Teens
When Elizabeth began to feel depressed during her freshman year in
high school, she ate little and slept poorly. But she threw herself into a
busy schedule of school and sports, hoping that she could outpace her
sadness and anxiety. I didnt feel right, and I didnt know what to do. I
tried to keep myself as busy as possible, she says. Id call it a bad day
and leave it at that. Id try to wake up the next morning and put on as
happy a face as I could.
She began pulling away from others and became distant and nervous,
she says. But she wouldnt confide in anyone -- not even her mother,
who suspected that she was struggling. Id cry to my mom and tell her
that I was just really tired. I needed to go to bed and start again the next
day, she says.
One day, I couldnt take it, says Elizabeth, now a 16-year-old junior .
She talked about her depression on the condition that for privacy, her
last name not be used. When a friend noticed that she seemed panicked
during lunchtime at school, he rushed her to the counselors office.
Later, Elizabeth was diagnosed with depression -- one of a growing
number of teens who have the disorder.
A recent national survey by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) found that 8.2% of young
people ages 12-17 were depressed in 2011. By 2014, the rate had
jumped to 11.4% -- almost a 40% increase in 3 years. Look for signs.

Serious about relocating

from Trump's America?
Here are some options.

For a long-term exit plan, ancestry is the easiest and

cheapest route. Direct descendants of an Italian male
citizen (or female if born after 1948) can apply for
Italian citizenship -- no language or cultural tests required. It's even possible to register and collect the documents at an embassy or consulate
abroad before traveling there. Irish grandparents or Polish great-grandparents may supply another route available to many Americans, if you have the right paperwork. And if Nazis
stripped your Jewish ancestors of German citizenship, Germany and the rest of the European
Union may be open to you as well. Indeed, with a EU passport in hand, you are free to live in
any of the member states, including the United Kingdom (at least for the moment).
For the elderly, Trump's promise to end Obamacare is of particular concern. Where can one go
that's far enough away, yet close enough to home? Canada, unfortunately, protects its publicly
funded medical system with strict laws that limit an influx of the aging.
Mexico, however, is more generous. Retirees with an average bank balance of $25,000 and at
least $1,500 in post-tax income every month can easily apply for a residence permit. In Costa
Rica, Guatemala, Venezuela and Chile, the hurdle is even lower -- $1,000 to $1,200 in
monthly income. Island lovers might cast their gaze toward the Caribbean, where a number of
countries boast citizenship-by-investment programs. Dominica is the cheapest option for a
single applicant; anyone can become a citizen by donating $100,000 to the government, and
the new passport brings with it the right to live in any of the 20 countries comprising the Caribbean Community.

Air Force needs to grow to

350,000 strong
In ongoing efforts to shape the force to current and future
requirements, Air Force officials have explained why the
service needs to grow to 350,000 active-duty airmen over
the next seven years.
"The risk of manpower shortage is masked and placed on
the backs of airmen," said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen.
David L. Goldfein. "Because if you go back and look at
the data and the way we measure readiness, did we taxi?
Yes. Did we launch? Yes. Did we make the deployed
destination and accomplish the mission? Yes. "What's
masked is the fact that the shortage of people has fundamentally changed the way we do business in terms of the
operational risk day to day." Officials noted the Air Force
must continue to grow the force to address key capability
gaps and recover and sustain a stronger force for today's
missions in the nuclear, intelligence, surveillance and
reconnaissance, maintenance and support career fields. It
must also continue to resource growing remotely piloted
aircraft and cyber mission requirements. As part of the
Fiscal Year 2017 budget request, the service plans to grow
the active-duty force to approximately 321,000 airmen by
2018. Additional funding from Congress would be
necessary for this growth, but details would have to be
prioritized during future budget submissions.

Florida gem: South Walton
Its no wonder, as many of the 16 tiny beach towns that make up South
Walton, like Rosemary Beach, have signs stating Established in 1995. This
is nouveau beach chic at its best. Highway 30A ties the 16 towns in this
Florida Panhandle region together and is one of the states most scenic drives. I
wondered how these tony towns, in northwest Floridas Walton County, along
the pristine, 26-mile string of beaches, slipped through the travel tracks.
Rosemary Beach alone is reason enough to visit South Walton. And the 16
towns together make a visit mandatory, as no two towns are alike. One thing
they do have in common is the shared Gulf of Mexico coast. Going straight
from the airport to dinner was the perfect intro to the allure of South Walton.
You go from stark white modern Mediterranean, to an about-face presentation
of pale painted beach bungalows, then homes bursting with bright Caribbean
colors. Aesthetically, each town has its own architectural angle, appeal, feel,
followers and reason to visit. Start your walkabout in Central South Walton in
Grayton Beach. It is one of the longest established towns, set almost in the
middle of the string of 16. The laid-back, hippie kitsch, arty ambiance is home
to the Grayton Artists Collective. Explore 30A, the diversity in looks alone.

About Kathleen:
Kathleen Broaderick is an artist based on the beautiful Emerald Coast of Florida. She started
painting during her last semester at FSU when she filled an extra slot in her schedule with a
watercolor class. She has been a student of art ever since. While living in England, Chicago
and Stuart, FL she took art classes & workshops whenever she could. After moving to the
Emerald Coast in 2000, she was introduced to oil painting. During this time, Kathleen was
an art volunteer at Plew Elementary for 10 years while her sons attended the school.
She then became certified to teach art and elementary education and taught kindergarten and
art at Edge Elementary in Niceville. Now, a full-time artist, she wakes up early to paint or
walk on the beach for inspiration.

Pneumonia the unwelcome gift
Winter is generally regarded as cold and flu season. People spend more
time indoors and holiday gathering draws crowds. From family celebrations
to office parties, Christmas concerts to shopping sprees, winter tis the
season for colds and flu. For people with existing chronic lung problems, it
can also be the pneumonia
season. Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both
lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid, causing cough with phlegm, fever,
chills, and difficulty breathing. According to researchers at Mayo Clinic, a
variety of organisms, including bacteria, viruses and fungi, can cause
pneumonia.
Pneumonia can range in seriousness from mild to life-threatening and is
most serious for infants, young children, people older than age 65, and
people with health problems or weakened immune systems. For older adults
and people with heart failure or chronic lung problems, pneumonia can
quickly become a life-threatening condition.
The signs and symptoms of pneumonia vary from mild to severe,
depending on factors such as the type of germ causing the infection, and the
persons age and overall health. Mild signs and symptoms often are similar
to those of a cold or flu, but they last longer. Signs and symptoms of
pneumonia usually include fever, sweating and shaking chills, as well as a
cough, which may produce phlegm, chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue
and nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

U.S. Hwy. 331 Bridge Weed, guns and catfish: 2017

brings new laws, big changes
Expansion Update
Florida Department of Transportation
Secretary Ananth Prasad told visitors at
a 2013 ceremony celebrating the
beginning of construction on a second
U.S. Highway 331 Bridge that the
project was one he was happy to cross
off his bucket list.
Prasad was well aware that Walton
County, with its overworked single
two-lane span across Choctawhatchee
Bay, was long past due for a major
bridge expansion. Its single major northsouth artery provided the second-longest
hurricane evacuation time in the state of
Florida.
Today, traffic is flowing across both the
new bridge that Skanska USA Civil
Southeast started building that day three
years ago and its predecessor, which was
closed for a time for improvements.
For the time being, only one lane of
traffic is traveling across each bridge,
but that situation should be rectified by
spring.
"The 'new' bridge is currently accommodating a single lane of northbound
traffic, while the original bridge and
causeways are carrying a single lane of
southbound traffic," Satter said in an
email. "With a traffic shift in place,
construction teams will be working on
the median area of the north and
southbound approaches. The current
traffic shift will remain in place until all
work on the project is completed."
A completed bridge isn't just important
to FDOT. The bridge expansion is the
linchpin for widening of the U.S. 331
from U.S. 98 as far north as Paxton near
the Alabama state line. Presently
contracted work, though, only extends
the four-lane project to DeFuniak
Springs. County leaders are confident
the new bridge and smoother travel route
will benefit Walton County in all sorts of
ways.
"The completion of this project will have
huge impacts on Walton County from
many points of view including safety,
convenience, hurricane evacuation and
economic development," County
Administrator Larry Jones said. "We
look forward to its completion and all
the benefits associated with it."
Even as the work on the bridge
continues, a recreation center is being
built beneath it.
A park located on the southern end of
the bridge will feature parking for
vehicles and boat trailers, pavilions,
restrooms and new sites for loading and
unloading boats. There will also be a
fishing pier, according to Walton County
spokesman Louis Svehla.
Check the FDOT website for more Hwy.
331 updates.

Just because Congress ground to a virtual halt in 2016

doesnt mean the country stopped making new laws.
From taxes to minimum wage to gun control, a broad range
of changes is coming at the state level as Americans ring in
2017. And, as has been the trend lately, the new year will
bring far broader legalization of marijuana.
Its what The National Organization for the Reform of
Marijuana Laws, in a letter to Vice President-elect Mike
Pence arguing against pot prohibitions, called an
unprecedented schism between state and federal law in
regards to cannabis statutes. While that debate will play
out anew as the Trump administration takes office with a lawand-order mandate, the schism grows wider in 2017.
Already, revelers in Massachusetts and California will have
the legal option of pairing their New Years Eve champagne
with a joint. Approved by voters in November, legal
recreational pot use took effect on Dec. 15 in Massachusetts;
legal personal use of the drug took effect in California shortly
after voters approved it there, though retail sales are still
months away from implementation.
Nevada is set to legalize recreational pot on Jan. 1, and
Maine will follow soon after.
Voters in the last election approved legalizing the drug for
medical purposes in North Dakota, Montana, Florida and
Arkansas. In Colorado, one of the first states to legalize pot,
licensed medical marijuana growers will now be allowed to
sell pot as well.
Starting Jan. 1, the wage will increase from $8.31 to $9.30
per hour for non-tipped workers and will increase by $0.90
per hour every year until it reaches $12 an hour on Jan. 1,
2020.
On the tax relief side of the ledger, Illinois approved a
measure tossing out a 6.25 percent luxury tax on tampons.
Illinois passed dozens of other laws, including changes so
that starting Jan. 1 it will no longer be illegal to catch catfish
using a pitchfork, spear-gun or bow and arrow. Critically, the
term public hunting ground for pheasants will be
replaced by public hunting ground for game birds.
On the West Coast, gun owners in California will face new
restrictions after Gov. Jerry Brown signed a law banning the
purchase of semiautomatic rifles with so-called
evil features. The evil features include pistol grips, flash
hiders and bullet-buttons that make it easier to remove and
replace ammunition magazines.
While Congress itself largely was inactive over the past
year, a new regulation stemming from the Affordable Care
Act, and set to take effect Jan. 1, could have far-reaching
implications across the country.
Under the change, states will have the option to seek
so-called Section 1332 waivers to try to modify parts of
ObamaCare for their residents. A number of states have
sought to get that process started though the incoming
Trump administration and Republican-controlled Congress
want to repeal and replace the law as a whole next year.
With the threats the current Administration has made
towards Trump and his Administration. It is unprecedented
by any past President to not go away from the scene for a
few years. But Obama has made statements close enough to
be charged with Treason at minimum. The people have voted
for drastic changes to take place. He has already made deals
and connections for the betterment of the USA, far more
work has been done than what Obama has done by far.
We shall see how difficult the process for Trump to enable
his changes or even cancel some of the policies made by
Obama. His over-ride of executive orders was taken too far.
Now Obama tells Trump dont do what I did?

From Bowie to Prince, America lost

some great musicians in 2016
It wasnt the year the music died, for the music will never die. But
we lost many of those who made it.
From rock chameleon David Bowie, 69, in January to teen-idol
turned adult sex symbol George Michel, 53, in December, some of
the most cherished pop musicians died in 2016.
Their number was striking, even in a year that also saw the deaths
of several people who shaped the 20th century.
That group included former first lady Nancy Reagan, 94, a key
figure in the most pivotal U.S. presidency since World War II;
Fidel Castro, 90, whose Cuban revolution was communisms high
tide and whose reign was its last gasp; and Muhammad Ali, 74, at
his peak the most famous person in the world and as he said
himself The Greatest.
Justice Antonin Scalia, 79, embodied the conservative Reagan
revolution on the Supreme Court. Harper Lee, 89, wrote To Kill a
Mockingbird, possibly the Great American Novel. Arnold Palmer,
87, golfed with a cool and a passion that raised an army of
followers.
Elie Wiesel, 87, Romanian by birth and American by choice,
struggled to explain the Holocaust, which he survived. Simon
Peres, 93, Polish by birth and Israeli by choice, struggled to solve
the riddle of peace in the Middle East, which eluded him.
The departed included heroes none greater than John Glenn,
95, the first American to orbit the earth and goats. Ralph Branca,
90, a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers, served up the "Shot Heard
'Round the World the home run by Bobby Thompson that gave
the New York Giants the 1951 National League pennant.
All made a mark; each will, in some way, be missed.
But the passing of so many famous musicians seemed particularly
unsettling.
They included Prince, 57, an androgynous, outrageous genius;
Leonard Cohen, 82, the deep-voiced folk bard who composed
Hallelujah; and producer George Martin, 90, midwife to the
Beatles metamorphosis into Abbey Road studio wizards.
The years losses were also a reminder that, 60 years after Elvis
first appeared on Ed Sullivan, the time has come for a generation of
performers to begin to leave the stage. Among the departed: Glen
Frey, 67, co-founder of the Eagles, as big a band as any in the 70s;
Leon Russell, 74, the long-haired, long-bearded, top-hatted master
of space and time; Merle Haggard, 79, the original country music
outlaw; Paul Kantner, 74, founder of the Jefferson Airplane, which
really began 60s acid rock; Keith Emerson, 71, and Greg Lake, 69,
co-founders of the '70s supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer; and
Maurice White, 74, founder of Earth, Wind & Fire.
They occupied various personas. Bowie was Ziggy Stardust, a
glam rocker who acts as a messenger for extraterrestrials, before he
was the Thin White Duke, an overwrought cabaret singer dressed in
white shirt, black trousers, and a vest.
Russell, an Oklahoman who moved to L.A. and became a studio
session ace he worked with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Eric
Clapton later made country music as Hank Wilson.
That was true of the precocious, such as Prince, (who taught
himself the piano at 7, the guitar at 13 and the drums at 14) and the
tardy, such as Cohen (who released his first album at 33, and said
he only turned to music then because he couldnt support himself as
a poet). The memories in each of the songs they wrote and played
music for us to dream dreams of tomorrow, yesterday and the Past.

Our take: best Music albums

of 2016
From Beyonc and Kanye West's big 2016 releases to
lesser-known albums that stole our hearts,
The hip-hop pioneers' sixth (and supposedly final) album
is a resonant rallying cry for acceptance as much it is a
tribute to late member Phife Dawg, who died this year and
is featured on the record. Rapping over their signature funk
and boom-bap beats, the group celebrates blackness while
railing against police brutality and bigotry.
The Oxnard, Calif., native (and newly anointed Grammy
nominee for best new artist) has delivered some of the
year's most unforgettable features on Mac
Miller's Dang! and Kaytranada's Glowed Up. But his powerful, poetic album Malibu reminds us that hip hop has no
boundaries, as he joyously flaunts his lyrical prowess and
flow over a surge of jazz, funk and R&B
Angel Olsen, My Woman
On her career-best third studio album, the 29-year-old musician shakes off the folk label thats nipped at her heels
since her early career. The sweeping sonic narrative of My
Woman begins by paying homage to Liz Phair and Sheryl
Crows sharp guitar rock, before spiraling into woozy
heartbreak in its masterful second half, all anchored by
Olsens unmistakable warbling voice.
Beyonc, Lemonade Lemonade didnt need to be as good
as it is. Thanks to Beyoncs staggering level of fame, and
embarked on a similarly successful world tour, and even
walked away with a few Grammy nominations, off a more
mediocre album. piano ballads, country and rock n
roll influences, jilted-lover anthems, protest songs
thats engaging at every turn. When Carly Rae Jepsens
critically-adored album Emotion came out last year, it
almost seemed like a fluke that the bubbly voice
behind Call Me Maybe was responsible for the best pop
album of the year. Emotion Side B, an eight-song
collection of outtakes, is stronger than full-length albums
by artists far more famous. Rihanna, ANTI She did tell us
that she was a savage. But she made ANTI anyway, a
collection of songs with enough radio favorites (Needed
Me, Work, Sex With Me) to keep fans engaged, and enough
curveballs to get critics excited. Zhu, Generationwhy
Major Lazer (Cold Water) and The Chainsmokers (Closer)
may have gotten all the airplay for their innocuous EDM
hits, but it was Zhu who stealthily turned in the most spellbinding dance album of the year. Generationwhy is the full
-length debut of the elusive Chinese-American producer.

In addition to the music, they left behind some

famous words. Party like its 1999 came from
Princes 1999. Life in the Fast Lane was the title of
a tune Fry co-wrote for the Eagles 1976 album Hotel
California. He said he got the line from a drug dealer
known as The Count while speeding on the freeway.
The departed artists also inspired eloquence in their
admirers: The year had its compensations.
When I heard Heartbreak Hotel, I knew what I
wanted to do in life. Everyone else wanted to be
Elvis. I wanted to be Scotty." Keith Richards of
the Rolling Stones on his boyhood impressions of
Moore. Leonard sang always as a sinner. He refused to describe sin as a failure or a disqualification. Sin was a condition of creatureliness, and his
feeling for our creatureliness was boundless.
Leon Wieseltier, writing in The New York Times
about his friend Cohen.
He subverted the whole notion of what it was to be
a rock star. Biographer Buckley on Bowie.
Bob Dylan received the Nobel Prize for Literature;
the Stones released their first studio album in 11
years; and they all, along with Neil Young, Paul
McCartney and the Who, played before tens of thousands of people at the Desert Trip festival in Southern California in October.
Little Richard, 83, said in the spring: I'm still
singing. I dont perform like I used to, but I have my
singing voice. Chuck Berry turned 90 on Oct. 18
and announced that next year hell release his first
studio album since 1979. Jerry Lee Lewis is still out
on the road. You can hear The Killer, 81, on Jan. 6 at
the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles in his Louisiana.
