Suggested Solutions

Suggested Solutions
Answer 1:
You can use the shape tweening method to convert a smiling face into a frowning face. Shape tweens feature helps
in modifying the shape of objects. This is identical to morphing, where an object/shape is changed into another
object/shape.

Answer 2:
To create the image as shown in Figure 1.1, in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, first you need to create a text and
an arrow. Then, you convert the text into individual objects. Finally, arrange the text objects in front and back of the
arrow.

Answer 3:
Placing light sources depends on many factors, such as composition, colors, and focus area. You can perform some
exercises to get a feel of how the lighting effect works at a particular time. For example, while walking, you can
observe the lighting effects before and after the sunset. You can also take an apple and observe how lights falling
on it from different sources, such as direct sunlight from window and reflective light from walls, mixed together.
One should also remember that in a 3D environment, the lights you use are a means to simulate lighting effects as
in real life. Keeping in mind the traditional lighting setups in a 3D environment will help you create a strong base of
lighting effects.

Answer 4:
To create the effect shown in Figure 1.2, you can first mask an image in the text. Then, you can apply different
effects, such as Drop Shadow, Inner Glow, and Bevel and Emboss effects.

Answer 5:
Using Flash, people with no animation background can also create animations with ease. Before Flash, creating
an animation was a tedious task. Traditional approaches to create animation were turning out to be very expensive
and time consuming. Flash allows you to easily create, color, and link objects to create animation. Moreover, you
can easily undo/modify the animations if anything goes wrong.

Answer 6:
Rigging is a method of making a modeled character or an object that is animated by attaching bones or biped to it.
The character can make body movements and also walk and talk.

Answer 7:
3D Max provides many built-in features that are easy to learn and simple to use. It is widely used in the field of
architectural modeling, virtual walkthroughs, and 3D games development. A large number of third party plug-ins is
available with 3D Max. Polygonal modeling and Material Editor are useful features in 3D Max.

Answer 8:
The effect can be created by using different layer styles such as Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner
Glow, Bevel and Emboss, Contour, and Color Overlay.

Answer 9:
RGB is the primary color model used by the electronic display devices such as monitors. CMYK is a color model
used for printing by the color printers.
The RGB model uses three colors, red, green, and blue. It combines these colors to create millions of other colors
by using an additive process. The CMYK model uses four colors, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. It creates
various colors by combining these four colors in different proportions using the subtractive process. CMYK removes
color from a white background and RGB adds color to a black background. CMYK pigments absorb white light and
reflect some part of the spectrum.
The difference between RGB and CMYK was noticed when the desktop publishers tried to create a hard copy of an
image. CMYK printers cannot reproduce all the RGB colors. The quality of an image on a hard copy will not be as
good as its soft copy. To overcome this constraint, some applications allow you to specify CMYK colors for an image
instead of RGB. Other softwares try to produce the printed output that is similar to the RGB input. Some high-end
printers supplement CMYK colors with spot color inks. This produces printed output close to the original.

Answer 10:
Graphic design is the process of combining text and graphics. It is used to communicate a message by means of
visual communication such as logos, graphics, brochures, newsletters, posters, and signs. Today, graphic designers
use desktop publishing software and techniques for achieving their goals.
The style factor of designing falls under graphic arts. A designer considers the style that will appeal to the target
audience and may hire an illustrator to create it.

Answer 11:
Preloader is used to determine the amount of time required by a Flash movie for loading itself in a Flash player. For
creating preloaders, the _framesloaded and _totalframes variables are used.

Answer 12:
A specific part of an area of a whole frame can be highlighted using the keying technique. You first need to place
the video clips in the timeline. Then, create a shape for highlighting by using the Shape tool. For example, create a
black rectangle shape that covers the whole frame.
Next, place the title in the timeline on a track right above the video clip. Adjust the opacity of the title till the dark area
has the desired transparency. Apply the Color Key effect to the title using the Effects menu. Select pure blue as the
key color. Adjust the Color Tolerance, Edge Thin, and Edge Feather until you get the desired highlight. You can also
fine-tune the shape and opacity of the highlight, if required.

Answer 13:
In Flash, alpha is used for creating see-through objects by making the colors transparent.

Answer 14:
For creating a 3D model, you need to think of an idea and put it down on a paper or in a 2D software. Next, you can
start visualizing and work on the appropriate proportions and anatomy of the objects you thought of.
A fantastic 3D model requires a great concept. Before starting the modeling process, you must keep the sketches
ready and then build on it further. You should pay attention to minute details in order to produce a high-quality
output.

Suggested Solutions

Answer 15:
A document having multiple colors needs to go through the printing press a couple of times. At times, the paper
or the plates that apply the ink may shift. This may result into gaps between objects and colors, which leads to
misregisteration. Trapping is the process of making these gaps less noticeable or completely invisible. It prints
portions of overlapping color where objects meet. Trapping is accomplished with the help of some software programs
or commercial printers.

Answer 16:
In Premiere, to create a replica of a person, first you need to split a screen. You need to shoot two different versions
of the scene, in which the actor is posing differently. Then, make half part of one of the shots transparent and put it
on top of the other shot.
You can also create a replica by using keys.

Answer 17:
In Photoshop, you can use the Lens Correction filter or Measure tool to straighten crooked horizons.
You can use the Lens Correction filter from the Filter menu. In the Lens Correction dialog box, with the help of the
Straighten tool, click the one part of the horizon and then drag a line over to the other part of the horizon. The picture
will become straight. Click OK and come back to the main screen. On this screen, use the Crop tool to discard the
unwanted part of the image.
The other options is to select the Measure tool, click the one part of the horizon, and then drag a line over to the
other part of the horizon. Next, open the Rotate Canvas box by using the Arbitrary command. This box will display
the angle that you have drawn. The picture will become straight once you click the OK button. Finally, use the Crop
tool to discard the unwanted part of the image.

Answer 18:
Before modeling, you should draw base mesh or important parts on the paper. You can draw a couple of variants of
mesh pattern and select the correct one. If you try to implement this in 3D, it will be time consuming. The best way
is to practice. Initially, practice a tutorial in Maya or 3D Max daily. Focus more on learning process rather than trying
to achieve mastery in your work piece. Once you understand the workflow, you have better understanding of the
tools to be used for actual development.

Answer 19:
In Flash, the trace bitmap command is used to convert a bitmap image in vector format. First, you need to open a
Flash document and then import an image. You can use the Import to Stage command. Then, select the image and
click OK. Select the bitmap image on the stage. Use the Trace Bitmap command and get various trace effects by
trying different values.

Answer 20:
You can create titles in Adobe Premiere using the Premieres built-in Title Designer method. This method is userfriendly and provides features that help in viewing video frames beneath the title that you have created. In some
situations, you need to use the other method over the title designer.
You can also create titles in Photoshop and import them into Premiere. This allows you to use various features of
your program to create advanced titles.

Answer 21:
When you put your thoughts on a piece of paper, it will help you think laterally. You can make different sketches to
come up with various designs. This will save your time during the design phase before you actually starting to use
the computer. Sketching on paper is faster than sketching on computer.
You can also directly start with digital sketches on your computer, but sketching is any time a quicker solution for
exploring options.

Answer 22:
For creating a 3D model, first you need to think about an idea. Then, you need to sketch it on a piece of paper. Once
sketching is over, you can scan the sketches and start with the modeling process. Finally, render it.

Answer 23:
The answer to this question will vary based on the learners idea.

Answer 24:
The property _root is the timeline of the movie from which the property was actually referenced. It can also refer to
the topmost timeline among the existing timelines.
The property _level0 refers to the timeline of the movie, which is loaded into level 0. You can reference this property
from any level and access the timeline loaded on level 0.

Answer 25:
The key points to be considered while designing a Web page include precedence, spacing, typography, alignment,
clarity, design to build, and navigation.

Answer 26:
A JPEG is a picture file, whereas the PSD is a Photoshop document and is saved with layers. When you upload an
image online, a picture file is preferred. Photoshop supports PSD format, which is recommended for files having a
small size. A JPEG file maintains the quality of an image even after getting compressed. You can get a good quality
image online without having any resource requirements for PSD files.
