Thomas Alva Edison was one of the experts who contributes much for the life in this world,
he developed many devices which were needed in this world, one of his inventions was lamp
The Sun Rises in Night
The finding was considered most important thing which had ever been invented in the history
of mankind. Due to his invention, human could do their activities in the night as they did in
the afternoon. Thomas Alva Edison was one of the first inventors who applied mass
production principle in his invention.
Teacher

: (distributing exam result) Thomas, come here! Look, you got a bad mark.
Ive observed your mark and they keep getting low each day.

Thomas

: (staying still, bowing his head low)

Teacher

: This is letter for your parents. Bring your parents here to meet me tomorrow.
Dont forget it!

Thomas

: Yes, mam. I will give it to them.

In the house.
Mother

: Hows school today?

Thomas

: Ive got a bad mark. Youve got to come to school tomorrow.

Mother

: What is this? (reading the letter). Okay I will go to your school tomorrow.

Thomas

: Thank you mom.

In the school.
Mother

: Good morning. Im Thomass mother.

Teacher

: Please sit down.

Mother

: Thank you.

Teacher

: So, Mrs. Edison, the matter is Ive been observing Thomas for 3 months,
he always got bad marks. He is always left behind. He is slow when it comes
to study. So, the school decides that Thomas can no longer study here

Mother

: Allright, thank you for your hard work, I will teach him by myself.

Teacher

: (reaching out for a handshake) Im so sorry.

(in the house)

Later, Thomas mother went back to the house. As soon as she arrived home, Thomas went to
talk to his mother. After Thomas dropping out, Thomas spent his time to read science books
and did some scientific experiment
(When Thomas was 6 years old)
Thomas

: (doing experiments with his three friends) Look at this, Ive succeeded on
making automatic repeater.

Friend 1

: Congratulations Thomas, tomorrow well show your invention to the world.

Friend 2

: Right. We will show your skill to the world.

Friend 3

: This is a wonderful invention!

(In the press conference )

Thomas

: This is my new invention, an automatic repeater. This device can repeat

voices automatically.

(The interviewers and press documented Thomas invention)

In 1877 Thomas realized the importance of light in humans life
Thomas

: I think, light is very important for human.

Friend 1

: I think we have to create a device which can emit the light.

Friend 2

: I think so.

Friend 3

: Yes, we have to try it to enlighten the world.

Thomas

: I will make the night bright with our invention.

Friend 1,2,3

: Yes, we agree!

(In the laboratory) Thomas discussed the device with his friends
Thomas

: Right now, light exist because of fire-raising. Were gonna try to make lamp
without fire-raising.

Friend 1

: The key is to find an element which can emit light without fire-raising, as in
the platinum.

Thomas

: Then it would be so hot.

Friend 2

: When the filament is too hot it will die, when the filament is cold it will be
alive again.

(showing the light went die and alive and die and alive againi)
Friend 3

: So, what will we do to enlighten the world if you cant enlighten the room?

Thomas

: It is about math. Im not an expert in math. Im just an inventor.

Friend 3

: So?

Thomas

: What we can do is to find the right filament. I need 50,000 dollar. And it is
your job to find it. (pointing at Friend 3)

Friend 3

: What? (shocked)

Thomas

: Hi Grof, I didnt just talk about one experiment. I was talking about lamp and
the handle, switch, dynamos measurer, generating station, and I talked about
the whole electrical industry. I will enlighten the world. And I need your help.
You know I can, right?

(Friend 3 went out)

Later, Friend 3 (Grof) talked to the investor to ask for 50,000 dollar. After he got the money,
Thomas and his three friends went to start the experiment.
Thomas

: How can we make the filament keep on living? (asking to Friend 2). What is
in the tube?

Friend 2

: There is air.

Friend 1

: Air can make fire.

Thomas

: Then we should empty the air in this tube.

Friend 2

: We need a pump.

Friend 3

: Yes, theres one in Printster. I will go borrow it.

Yet, Friend 3 didnt succeed on borrowing the pump. As Friend 3s absence, people started to
mock Thomas invention. After Friend 3 went back with the pump, people started to work to
empty the air in the tube.
Friend 1

: It starts to work. (pointing at the tube)

Yet, the lamp suddenly died. Then, Thomas friends went home. Tomorrow
Thomas

: Ive found it. We need carbon.

Friend 1

: Oh no!

Thomas

: We will use it as isolator (pointing at Friend 1 to make a glass tube with

carbon in it) (pointing at Friend 2) collect all the metals!

Friend 3

: I dont think that

Thomas

: What? Its a good resistor. Now we have to find the right filament.

Friend 3

: (pointing at the book) But Thom, it is written here that carbon aaaaa

Thomas

: Close your book! You read too much. Make an ad in newspaper to find a
good glassmaker. I will make new 1000 lamp bulbs.

Friend 3

: But it isnt scientific Thom

Thomas

: I dont need science. I only need result.

Friend 1 and Friend 2 started to collect metals as filaments material

When they tried the filament inside the bulb, the bulb was broken and there was sparks
Friend 2

: Weve tried 1000 times, yet it hasnt succeeded.

Thomas

: The key is were gonna keep on trying until 1001 times. No other thing than
keep on trying.

The friends tried to collect the materials for the filament, including horses tail, birds feather,
hair. Out of all the filaments, there was a filament which kept the light stay in the bulb.
Thomas

: What filament is this?

Friend 1

: Its just string.

Friend 2

: Very good.

Friend 3

: It doesnt die. I think it will succeed. Youre wonderful Thom.

Thomas

: No, weve all succeeded. And we still have works to do.

New Year night of 1880, all people gathered to celebrate New Year 1880. Thomas and his
friends arranged the lamp to form HAPPY NEW YEAR 1880 at 00.00 am the lamps were
switched on.
All the people shouted WONDERFUL and exchanged handshake to congratulate each other.
One of the interviewes said that Thomas was a genius and great thinker.
Thomas

: Genius consists of 1% of thought and 99% of attempts. I can be called genius

in trying.

Then people happily celebrated the New Year of 1880 together.
