CONTENTS:
1 Gameboard 6 Space Sectors (Triangles) 4 2-pc. Enterprise Pawns 24
Mission Cards - 32 Star Cards 6 Plastic Clips 2 Dice 60 Control Markers

TO SET UP THE GAME:

1. Snap the plastic clips into the slots (at each point of the hexagon In the
center of the board) from the underside of the board. These clips hold the
Space Sectors in place.
2. Assemble the pawns by sliding the warp propulsion unit into the notch in
the main hull. See Fig. 1. Choose a color to play and put your ship on the
matching colored starbase.

3. Separate the six triangular Space Sectors and put them face down in a
pile. Let each player choose one and place it face up on the board in front
of his starbase. Be sure to connect the starpaths on your Space Sector
with the lines leading from your starbase. See Fig.2.

4. Place the remaining Space Sectors on the board.

5. Shuffle the Star Cards and place them face down on the board.
6. Shuffle the Mission Cards and deal four cards to each player. Don't let the
other players see your cards. Keep them face down, off the board, in front
of you.
7. Take 15 Control Markers of your color and put them in front of you.

TO PLAY:
1. Roll the dice. High roller moves first; others follow in turn clockwise.
2. You can move at one of two speeds:
A. Warp SpeedRoll the dice and move the count showing on the dice.
OR
B. Impulse SpeedMove one space in a turn.
NOTE: Certain "Advanced Civilization" Cards allow you to Increase
your move. See explanation later in the instructions.
3. Move along a colored starpath to reach spaces marked by letters A-E
which represent stars.
4. When you land on one of the letter spaces that has not been previously
explored, you draw a Star Card.
5. When you roll the dice, you must move the full count unless you are going
to stop on an UNEXPLORED Star (a star no other player has landed on)
Earth, Vulcan, a starbase, or are returning home.
6. When you roll doubles, you can move yourself or an opponent the count
showing on the dice.
7. You can only change from a starpath of one color to a different color starpath at Space Sector boundaries or by going through a planet or starbase. You cannot change starpaths within a Space Sector.
NOTE: When passing through a planet or starbase, you count the planet
or starbase as part of your moveyou don't have to stop on it.
8. You can land on or pass over other players without penalty.
EXCEPTION: When you land on another player who has completed three
missions and is returning home, you can send that player
anywhere on the board.

TO COMPLETE A MISSION
1. When you receive your Mission Cards, you will see that they refer to alien
phenomena such as Di-Lithium Crystals. Neutron Stars, etc. or they order
you to go to a specific destination such as visiting three stars in the Earth
Space Sector.
2. You must move to Star Spaces in order to draw Star Cards. You do not
have to land on an UNEXPLORED Star by exact count.
3. When you land on an Unexplored Star (a Star Space that no other player
has landed on), draw a Star Card and put it on the appropriate card space
on the outer edge of the Space Sector you are in. That star now becomes
an EXPLORED Star and you control it. Place one of your ControlMarkers
below the card. (EXCEPTION: See Hostile Aliens.)
EXAMPLE: If you are in the Yellow Space Sector and land on the "A"
Star, draw a Star Card and place it on the card space marked
A on the outer edge of the Yellow Space Sector with one of
your markers below It. (Refer to Fig. 2.)
4. All terms, such as "Explore," Seek out and destroy," Visit."Go there and
investigate," mean that you must control one of the Star Cards that
represent the alien objects mentioned on your Mission Cards.
EXAMPLE: One card reads, "Alpha Tauri wants to start a new colony.
Find 1 Earth-like planet. Beam down your science team _to
survey the planet's surface." In order to complete this mission,
you must travel to unknown star spaces hoping to draw a Star
Card which reads Earth-like planet" or you must go to a
known star where another player has already found an Earthlike planet and take over control of that card by landing on
the space by exact count. Replace the other player's Control
Marker with one of your own. No further action is needed.
5. When you draw a Star Card that matches one of your Mission Cards or you
achieve the task set for you by the Mission Card, you have completed a
mission. You must turn that MISSION Card face upyou cannot
complete missions secretly.

6. EXPLORED STARS: You can take over control of an Explored Star by

landing on that star space by exact count. If by doing so you have
completed a mission, be sure to turn your Mission Card face up. Remove
the other player's Control Marker and replace it with one of your own.
(EXCEPTION: See Advanced Civilization Cards.)
NOTE: It the other player needed that star in order to complete a mission
(ex. Control 1 star in all 6 space sectors), then he must go back to
that star to re-control it or go to another star. If his mission was
already completed, then your action has no effect on the status
of his missionit remains completed.
7. Some missions are more complex than others.
A. When your card tells you to, Take serum to 2 other starbases," you
must travel to two starbases (other than your own) leaving one of your
Control Markers on each of the starbases to show that you were there.
When you reach the second starbase, turn your Mission Card face up.
B. When your card tells you to, Transfer alien ambassader to another
players ship," you do not have to land on the other player by exact
count if the other player's ship is on a starbase or a planet because you
don't need exact count to land on a starbase or planet. When you land
on the other ship or it lands on you, turn your card face up.
C. When your card tells you to, "Pick up a Vulcan ambassador and bring
him safely to Earth," you must travel to Vulcan, leave one of your Control Markers to indicate you've been there, travel to Earth and leave one
of your Control Markers there. When you reach Earth, turn your
(Mission) card face up.
NOTE: If you land on a star on your way to Earth and draw a Hostile
Aliens" card, your mission is interrupted and you must go
home to repair your ship. You then resume your mission by
traveling to Earth. See explanation under Hostile Aliens."

ADVANCED CIVILIZATION CARDS

1. When drawing you might draw an Advanced Civilization Star Card. Two
of the Advanced Civilization Cards can be used only once by each player
after landing there. (You cannot return to an Advanced Civilization Star.)
One card reads, Move 12 spaces on your next turn." The other reads,
Teleport once anywhere In the galaxy." Teleport" means to move your
ship any place on the board.
2. The other two cards read. You may add 1 to each move. These cards can
be used by you and others, when they land there, for the rest of the game.
You are allowed to add 1 to your dice roll (Warp Speed) for each of these
two Advanced Civilizations that you have visited. Or you can add 1 to your
move at Impulse Speed for each of these that you control.
3. More than one player can control an Advanced Civilization Card at the
same time. Leave the other player's Control Marker below the card and
add a marker of your own.
HOSTILE ALIENS
1. When you draw a Star Card that reads, "Hostile Aliens Attack! Starship
Disabled":
A. Move your starship back to your home starbase.
B. Put the card on the bottom of the deck. Do not place a Control Marker.
C. Move your starship off your home base on your next turn.
TO WIN:
Complete three of your missions and head for your home starbase
(Rememberif another player lands on you now. He can send you
anywhere on the board.) The first player to reach his home starbase
after completing three missions wins the game.
