Assignment 10 Macbeth

1.
Lady Macbeths strengths are her persistence towards following through with her plan, her
courage to finish the plan even when Macbeth fails to finish it himself, and her smartness in
organizing and executing her plan to kill king Duncan. She shows her strength by taking the
daggers from Macbeth and going to finish the plan herself. Her weaknesses are when she is
paranoid about who or what is around her. For example, when Macbeth say, Whos there?
What, ho! ,Lady Macbeth panics and thinks it might be one of the servants who woke up, when
instead it was just Macbeth.
Ross describes how the skies are abnormal that day due to the horrible murder of king Duncan.
He vividly described it by saying ...as troubled with mans act, threatens his bloody stage. By
th clock tis day, And yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp. Is t nights predominance or
the days shame that darkness does the face of earth entomb when living light should kiss it?
Describing how the skies are being filled with black storm clouds because they are disappointed
in the murder of king Duncan and the sun is trying to peek through them, but is failing.
2.
Macbeth has changed as a result of the events in this act in a regretful way. After killing king
Duncan, he fails to finish the murder by forgetting to make it look like the soldiers caused it, and
when lady Macbeth says for him to do it, he is too ashamed to continue. He constantly looks at
his hands full of blood and he cant stop thinking about the possible consequence that will take
the throne from him send chills and fear through his whole body, and decides that he needs to kill
Banquo and his son before anything bad happens to him, leading to paranoia
3.
Macbeth and lady Macbeth are unhappy as king and queen because it was only until after killing
king Duncan that they realized the mistake they have made. They realize what consequences will
possibly come their way, which are threatening their lives and well-being. They don't feel safe,
and they don't feel like they've finished what they have started yet. For example, when Macbeth
says this in act 3 scene 2, We have scorched the snake, not killed it. Shll close and be herself
whilst our poor malice remains in danger of her former tooth. But let the frame of things disjoint,
both the worlds suffer, ere we will eat our meal in fear, and sleep in the affliction of these terrible
dreams that shake us nightly. Better be with the dead, whom we, to gain our peace, have sent to
peace, than on the torture of the mind to lie in restless ecstasy.
4.
Macbeths active imagination reveals that his conflicts are driving him to the point where he is
acting mentally unstable. Hes hallucinating about things that haunt his conscience the most, for
example, Banquos ghost during the feast. Macbeth's freaked out about the ghost and made all

the guest feel uncomfortable. As quoted from the story, Tis safer to be that which we destroy,
than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy.
