Application Method Statement

Material description:
Item : Epoxy Paint / Code: F-EP-101 & F-EP-102 / Finish: 2mm thick
Product Data: Joint less, solvent free, conductive epoxy flooring system consisting of an insulating primer, a conductive primer and a conductive topcoat .
Dar technical specifications: Section 099600.
Surface Preparation:
1. The substrate must be sound, dimensionally stable, firm, and free from loose material, dust, oil, fat, greases or any other material that might
prevent good adhesion.
2. The substrate can be prepared by suitable means e.g. by sand blasting or grinding or scrabbling until the desired substrate is met, Vacuum cleaning
is than required
3. Fill holes and level off gradations by Sight Epoxy Bed (SEP-6001). Major cracks (above 10mm depth/width) to be repaired by suitable repair mortar.
4. Compressive and Adhesive strength of the substrate must be 1.5 N/mm with a minimum individual reading showing at least 1.0 N/mm.
5. The moisture content of cement based substrate must not exceed 4% (by weight), or one of the realistic test methods like Plastic Sheet Test can be
applied. (Rising damp/moisture must be avoided, complete sealing from the contact with ground is essential).

Plastic sheet test :( Standard Test method for indication of moisture in concrete by plastic sheet method according to ASTM D4263) a 460 mm x 460
mm square 0.1-mm-thick plastic sheet is placed on the concrete and sealed around the edges by taping them down to the concrete. After 16
hours the sheet is removed and the area inspected for evidence of moisture like drops or Change of concrete color. Variations of this test include
the use of a 1 m x 1 m piece of plastic sealed around the edges for 24 hours, One test area per 46 m2.

Primer coat
Mix Gloss Sight Epoxy Primer (SEP-6104) base and hardener, and stir intensively with slow speed electric paddle until uniform mass is formed, a
maximum of 10% dilution by Sight Aro thinner (k7000) is acceptable.
Apply the mixed material onto the surface with medium-fleeced roller or spread evenly with a rubber spreader.
For poorly absorbent substrates, the material may be thinned up to 15% by weight with epoxy thinner.
Filler coat
Prior to applying the diluted Epoxy mortar as conductive primer to the full area fillings has to be carried out by Sight Epoxy Bed (SEP-6001) after mixing
the base with its hardener (as per engineer review), no dilution recommended.
Sight Epoxy Bed (SEP-6001) should be applied by putty knife (spatula) or trowel on to the undulated areas or minor cracks after spot priming these
areas. The consumption will vary as per the surface conditions.
Diluted Epoxy mortar as conductive primer
Mix ESD Sight Epoxy Mortar SEP-6505 base and hardener, and stir intensively with slow speed electric paddle until uniform mass is formed, a
maximum of 80% dilution by Sight Aro thinner (k7000) is recommended.
Apply the mixed material onto the surface with medium-fleeced roller or spread evenly with a rubber spreader.

Top coating
For Top coating by ESD Sight Epoxy Mortar SEP-6505, mix base and hardener, and stir intensively with slow speed electric paddle until uniform mass
is formed. After the first mixing procedure, when the mixture is poured into a second, clean container, Pour mixed material onto the primed
surface and spread homogeneously by a serrated rubber spreader or V notched steel trowel. No dilution recommended.
After a waiting period of minimum 10 minutes remove air bubbles with spiked roller. Spiked shoes to be used as it has to be done by walking over
the wet paint. Different thickness can be controlled by different size of serrated or V notched trowel. Enough hands should be employed and to
work at fast pace due to short open working time of the material.
In some cases it is necessary to spray a Sight Aro Thinner K7000 over the applied thick layer to remove unaccepted bubbles which could be raised
on the surface.
Please note: It is recommended to use trained and experienced applicator to carry out this system of floor coating works.
Notes:
1. The suggested system is consisting of 3 layers.
2. Material No. 2 Sight Epoxy Bed (SEP-6001) can be used if required as per engineer review) for filling cracks or sharpening edges.
3. DFT, Solid and TSR values are for each layer. Consumptions mentioned above are theoretical. Coverage and drying time will vary depending on
application method and weather conditions.
4. Weather Condition: Avoid working when the atmospheric and substrate temperature is at a minimum of 10C / 50F and maximum of 30C / 86F and
when ventilation is poor. The relative atmospheric humidity must not exceed 80%. Observe the dew point temperature. Such conditions may produce
defects in the coating when drying.
5. Preparation of the surface before painting is a very important step and it is highly recommended to be Comply with MPI Architectural Painting
Specification Manual (3.1 Condition of Surfaces / 3.2 Preparation of Surfaces).
6. All Steps recommended to be Comply with MPI Architectural Painting Specification Manual (3.3 Application).
7. By using the diluted ESD Sight Epoxy Mortar SEP-6505 as primer : We prefers the using of diluted ESD Sight Epoxy Mortar SEP-6505 as primer because
of the roughness of the thin mortar layer which can increase the adhesion of the top undiluted mortar layer (the final surface of this mortar is smooth
as its thickness >1.5 mm, and the roughness in thin mortar layer is because of big sizes of solid silica filler).

Material Storage
1. Avoid storing materials where directly exposed to sunlight or where the temperature is below 0oC.
2. Be cautious of flames when handling the solvent coating. Abide by regulations specified in the Fire Services Act, Labor Safety, Hygiene Act or any
other local regulations etc.
3. Shelf life maximum 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored under normal ventilated, covered conditions.
