Field work
Introduction:
Field work is an integral aspect of social work education as it attempts to provide
students with the opportunity to integrate theories with practice through the guidance
of a qualified supervisor and also qualified field advisor. Field learning is including
agency characteristics, learning goals and structure and supervision. Students
associated the quality of supervision and relevance of learning most highly with
satisfaction in their placement experience.
Definitions of field work:
1 Field work is a discipline term for the collection of data outside of a controlled
laboratory setting and work done observations made in the field as opposed to
observed in a controlled environment.
2 Field work which is also known as field instructions, field placement, field
education, practicum, or internship is therefore on integral component of social
work education.

Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN PAKISTAN, which started drug harm
reduction program in 1994 with the financial support of International Drug Demand
Reduction Program (IDDRP), a joint project of UNDCP, Pakistan Narcotics Control
Board and UNDP.
Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started HIV/AIDS Prevention
Program for Injecting Drug Users in Karachi (2000) supported by UNAIDS &
UNDCP.
Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started HIV/AIDS Prevention
Program for Injecting Drug Users in Hyderabad (2004) supported by European
Commission through Interact Worldwide and Pakistan National AIDS Consortium.
Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started HIV/AIDS Prevention
Program for Female Drug Users in Sindh (2005) supported by Canada International
Development Agency (CIDA).
Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which started both drug harm and
demand reduction program in Larkana in 2006.
Pakistan Society is the FIRST NGO IN SINDH, which has the longest working
experience i.e. 15 years experience of working with Injecting Drug Users in the field
of prevention of HIV/AIDS and STIs including monitoring the organization and
location of IDUs in the project area, implementation of appropriate BCC strategies,

Mission Statement:
Pakistan Society is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which is committed
to enhance the positive quality of individual, family and community life, infected and
affected by infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis and malaria
as well as behavioral disorders including drugs and substance abuse by providing
services that are consistently available, accessible and responsive to the needs of
individuals, families and groups seeking assistance and to work with the community
to contribute, facilitate and promote solutions through dynamic programming
response to the needs of diverse communities. The services provided by Pakistan
Society include peer education, training and outreach, specialized detoxification and
rehabilitation services for injecting drug users (male & female), solvent abusing street
kids, pregnant women, transgender and commercial sex workers, health promotion
and harm reduction initiatives, links to medical care and management of

Awareness Program:
Pakistan Society organizes awareness programmed / workshops for students, general
public and professionals. Different colleges and Universities visit every year to
Society for awareness on drug abuse and drug-related HIV. These colleges and
Universities have been provided maximum information by the experts of society and
the vulnerable populations as well.
Pakistan Society celebrates all the health-related International Days with
collaboration of different stakeholders provincial and national level.
Human Resource:
We have a team of highly committed, competent, devoted and qualified field staff
and core management group of professionals with profound technical, financial and
managerial skills.
Our work force includes people from various ethnic groups such as Punjabi, Sindhi,
Pathan / Pakhtoon, Baloch and Urdu speaking and also belongs to high risk groups
such as Injecting Drug Users, People Living with HIV/AIDS, making it easier to
communicate with various vulnerable, populations.
Our staff team has long experience of working both in urban & rural areas of the
province of Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Sehwan Sharif,
Dadu.

Introduction:
In this semester we had only one activity which we conducted survey in Moosa
colony and Esa nagri spot. We were total eleven members in our group and
conducted survey collectively and took interview from ten clients of each person. The
main purpose of that activity to compile a research on drug addicted person and to

Observation:
It was a good experience to conduct field survey on such spot, because we learned
many new information about the drug addicted persons. We also learned about their
