HISTORY OF THE FIRM

The member of Virani family started the journey of Balaji group in a
very very tiny size in the year 1976. Born to a farming family in the
nondescript Dhundhoraj village in Jamnagar district, Virani brothers first
tried their hands in diamond and agriculture kits business in the mid 1970s
with a very small capital of Rs. 20000/-, which their father gave them for
investment. But the effort ended in disaster. Chandubhai and his brother
Meghjibhai next took up jobs in Rajkots Astron Cinema selling refreshment
earning Rs.100/- and Rs.155/- per month respectively. Later on when the
cinema owner Govindbhai handed over the canteen to them on contract
basis in year 1976. Chandubhai introduced Sandwiches with a little help
from ladies of his household who supplied him with exotic home made
masala. The sandwiches soon went on to prove an instant hit in Saurashtra
region. Even today the Viranis continue selling their sandwiches through
they rake in less than a fraction of their turnover. Later on with the help of
Mr. Popatbhais sons - Mr. Bhikhubhai Virani, Mr. Chandubhai Virani and Mr.
Kanubhai the member of their family started this firm.
Noticing early on that potato wafers constituted almost 80% of the refreshment
sale in Saurashtra region, the brothers decided to turn that into their core business.
Thats when Balaji was born. According to Chandubhai the huge demand existed at
that time could not be met out of the limited supply from Mumbai and this
motivated the brothers to fill the supply gap. The tremendous entrepreneurship of
these brothers is an excellent illustration of dynamism in business. Today the Balaji
snacks food business give MNCS a bite for their money and Balaji Wafers has
emerged more than a munch for the Pepsis

Frito-lays, with almost 70% of states

wafers market in its Pocket Which Indeed is not a mean achievement in any scale. It
brings immense pleasure in genera; and I feel elated in particular to do project on
such a dynamic business and on the vision of the proudest business family of
Saurashtra region, the Virani Family.

Working capital indicates circular flow of cash i.e. a sort of a
revolving fund starting with cash used to pay for the raw materials, labors
and operating expenses and when finished products are ready for sale,
the cash is recovered through sale of these goods on cash or a on credit.
Thus, we have a circular cash flow from cash to inventories top
receivables and back to cash. Working capital has a more liquidity than
any other capital.
There are two concepts of working capital.
NET WORKING CAPITAL:
It represents the excess of the total current assets over total current
liabilities. It is quantitativeness. concept indicating the soundness of
current financial position

SUGGESTION
As a student I would like to give a suggestion for better future of
the company. This company has all the best quality and ecquenics. But
each and every human being cannot do perfect work. He will be lagging
behind in some or other way.
For such giant organization, I dont have any suggestions to
give there is some eye catching loops. Then also I have some point in my
mind to suggest for their betterment. They are as follows:
Company has opportunities to expend the business in this field and
other field. Hence it should explore other line of products.
They should make advertising through television, newspaper and
holding etc. For increasing their sales rather profit.
Company should increase its sales promotion activities to attract new
customers and more satisfied to its old and loyal customers.
Give more responsibility to lower level management
Must involve lower level management in decision making process
because due to that many innovative ideas may come
The company should invest in a Research and Department.
The company must improve the marketing network.
Within the India, the company must explore the other state like
southern state and must peniterate the great potential of huge
marketing network.
The company can resort to more diversification to catler to the needs of
both rich and poor. This will ultimately enhance the over all profitability.
To catter the needs of millions of Indian customer, the company should
not only upguade the quality of every product but also it can follow
both sceeming pricing strategy and peniteation strategy to withstand
the fears competitions. Sina, the present Dr. Manmohan Singhs
government (UPA) is above to invite FDI in Retail Business. Balaji
