JOSE PROTACIO RIZAL MERCADO Y ALONZO REALONDA


The greatest hero of the Phil. was a many splendored genius. Born in Calamba,
Laguna on the 19th day of June 1861. Between 11 and 12:00 at night, a few days before
the full moon. He was a Patriot hero and martyr.
PAX HISPANICA - Reigned over the entire archipelago.
Gen. Jose Lemery - Whose achievement worthy of historical citation was establishment
of the Politico- Military Government of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Rev. Rufino Collantes- Baptized Dr. Jose Rizal in the Catholic Church of Calamba on
June 22, 1861.

Jose Rizal is the 7th of the eleven children.
Francisco Mercado- Father of Dr. Rizal. He was born in Binan Laguna May 11, 1818.
And died in Manila on January 5, 1898. Dr. Jose Rizal called him A model of a

Manuel de Quintos A prominent Manila Lawyer. Maternal grandfather of Donya
Teodora.
Cipriano Alonso paternal grandfather of Donya Teodora. Was a Capitan of Binan.
Narciso Claveria In 1849 he ordered the Filipino families to choose new surnames from
a list of Spanish family names. After 1849 the family name was changed to Realonda.
CALAMBA- Cradle of genius

1876- He was 15yrs old he was student in Ateneo he wrote a poem. UN RECUERDO A

First Sorrow- Concha died in sickness at her 3years of age. 1862-1865.
At the age of 3- he began take part on the family prayer.
At the age of 5- he was able to read haltingly the Spanish family bible.

June 1872- he started his life as a student in the Ateneo.


Fr. Leoncio Lopez one of the men esteemed and respected in calamba during his
boyhood. He is the town priest.
June 6, 1868- Jose and his father left Calamba to go on Pilgrimage to Antipolo.

Dona Teodora - Joses first teacher. Age of 3 Jose learned the Alphabet and the prayers
from her.
The Story of the Moth
A tragic fate of the young moth which Died a martyr to its illusions left a deep
impress to Rizals mind to sacrifice ones life for its worth while.

UNCLE GREGORIO taught him to love books.
UNCLE JOSE inspired him to develop his artistic ability.
UNCLE MANUEL he learned the importance of good health and sports.
REV. LEONICIO LOPEZ parish priest of Calamba.
Acquired the value of intellectual honesty and the love for scholarship.
Sorrow in his family such as death of Concha (1865). And imprisonment of his
mother (1872-1874). But such sorrows helped to strengthen his character.
The brutal acts of the lieutenant of the GUARDIA CIVIL AND ALCALDE, the
unjust tortures inflicted on innocent Filipinos and the execution of GOMBURZA.

him. He studied in this school from 1870-1871.

LEON MONROY An old man who had been his classmate of Don Francisco to give
Rizal first lesson in Latin.

ANDRES LAKUNDANAN classmate of Rizal. He challenged him to an arm
wrestling. Jose having a weaker arm, lost and nearly cracked his head on the
sidewalk.
