Introduction:
The WELLCARE Model WC-WLBP Wireline set
Bridge Plug or WELLCARE Model WC-MBP
Mechanical Set Bridge plug are high performance
drillable bridge plugs, commonly used for zonal
isolation during stimulation or cementing jobs, or
for temporary and permanent abandonments.
The Model WC-WLBP can easily be converted
to a Model WC-WLCR Cement Retainer.

Operating Instructions:

The Model WC-WLBP Wireline Set Bridge Plug

is set using
a Wireline Pressure Setting
Assembly and a Wireline Adapter Kit . The Model
WC-WLBP Wireline Set Bridge Plug may be set
hydraulically using a Model WC-HST Hydraulic
Setting Tool and The WELLCARE Model WC-MBP
Mechanical Set Bridge Plug set by using Model
WC-MST Mechanical Setting Tool. Consult the
appropriate setting tool tech unit for further
instructions.

Recommended Drill Out Procedures

For Bridge Plug:
If conditions are normal and the instructions
shown below are followed, WELLCARE Model WCWMBP Bridge Plugs are relatively easy to drill up.
The materials used in this product must satisfy
strict quality control specifications and are
designed to break up into small pieces during the
drilling-out operation.
It is nearly impossible to cover all the
problems that may arise under every condition;
however, there are certain procedures that can
be followed in most instances. Thus the
recommendations listed below should be used
as a guide only and, under conditions other
than normal past experience and common
sense should govern the drilling-out operation.

Suggested Rotary Operation:

1.
A
WELLCARE
Junk
Basket should be
installed in the drilling string in order to trap
cuttings. This will serve two purposes.
a. It will help to eliminate the condition of
continuing to drill on the same loose
material.
b. It will trap cuttings that might cause
trouble during subsequent operations in
the well.
2. A new, high quality, medium hard formation
rock bit with medium to short, regularly
spaced teeth should be used. Select a bit that

will not track, and of a size that will give

minimum clearance between the bit and the
casing. It is recommended that bits with
wings between the outer teeth not be used.
3. Circulating down the drill pipe or tubing will
allow larger pieces of the tool to be
circulated up into the junk basket rather
than reverse circulating. This will usually
result in faster drill out.
4. When feeling for the tool, try to avoid any
impact which might break some of the teeth
on the bit. Experience has shown that rotary
speeds between 50 and 75 rpm will give the
best results under normal conditions.
5. Gradually set down 5,000 lbs on the tool
and drill for 5-10 minutes. Drill up the
mandrel which extends above the slips and
allow the bit to seat on the full diameter.
Gradually increase set down weight to about
2,000 lbs per inch of bit diameter. If the
rate of penetration drops, increased weight,
or varying the speed should be tried until
the rate of penetration picks up.

Conversion Procedures Of Bridge Plug

to Cement Retainer:
1. Loosen Set Screw in Guide. Set Screw
extends through Body into the Guide on
Sizes X6 & larger.
2. Remove Guide and Lower Slip (Sizes X1X5). DO NOT DROP LOWER SLIP.
a. Use the appropriate Cement Retainer
Tension Mandrel. Insert the Tension
Mandrel into the Body. Strike the exposed
end of the Tension Mandrel with a
hammer and block of wood to push the
Latch Sleeve, Seal Spacer and Seal out of
the Retainer.

b. For Cement Retainer with Flapper Valve:

Remove Guide Assembly with Flapper
Valve.

Wireline Set Drillable Bridge Plug:

Use a Basic Unit and parts listed below.

1. Ensure that the O-Ring is installed on the Bridging Plug. Lubricate sealing end of Bridging Plug
and slide into Body or Body Insert. Install Belleville Washers over end of Body (Sizes X1-5X
only).
2. Thread Guide on Body until it shoulders against Bridging Plug.
3. Align lug on Bridging Plug: (A) with groove in Bridge Plug Guide or (B) with any port in the
Cement Retainer Guide.
4. Make-up Guide wrench tight. Lower Slip should also be tight and Belleville Washer (Sizes X1X5) should not project past OD of Plug. If the Lower Slip is loose, install another Belleville
Washer in the opposite direction from the first one. Install Hex Socket Set Screw.
