1-10: Syllabus/Introduction to the Course/ Assign SWA#1
1-12: SWA #1 due. Discuss Byrne, Creation in Reverse and TED talk. Assign Topic

Analysis

1-17: Discuss Introduction and 1st chapter of Ratliff/choose READING SET teams
1-19: LIBRARY DAY 1/assign SWA 2

Monday, 1-23: FYRS Conference. You are required to attend one session. Details

1-24: READING SET #1 (Chapts. 2/3/4)/discuss FYRS conference/SWA #2 due
1-26: READING SET #2 (Chapts. 5/6/7)/assign sample topic analysis/POSSIBLE GUEST VISIT

1-31: First half of class: Discuss sample topic analysis in class/assign SWA 3; 2nd half: group work
with WC staffers to discuss topics
2-2: sign up for conferences/READING SET #3 (Chapters 8/9/10)

2-7: Topic Analysis due/assign annotated bibliography and SWA 3/READING SET #4 (Chapts
11/12/13)/Possible guest visit from John Ferguson (producer, musician, TU Technical
Coordinator)
2-9: LIBRARY DAY 2
Friday, 2-10: Required student conferences, wave 1/SWA #3 due at required conference

Monday, 2-13: required student conferences, wave 2
2-14: No class/required student conferences, wave 3
2-16: LIBRARY DAY 3

2-21: READING SET #5 (Chapts 14/15/16); assign readings for 2-23.
2-23: Annotated bibliography due/google hangout with Dr. Nancy Riley (Country Music and
Considerations of Genre)/ assign proposal and student sample

2-28: Discuss student sample proposal/assign case study (SWA #4)/sign up for presentation and
response slots
3-2: Bring working draft of proposal to class for workshop with TUWC staffers (SW away for
outside review at Allegheny College)

Also: Attend a Presentation on Presentations session (12:30-1:20 or 3:30-4:20 in Campus
Center Gym)

3-7: Case study day/SWA #4 due.

3-9: Proposal due/READING SET #6 (Chapts 17/18/19)/Assign SWA #5 (response to


presentation) and #6 (end of term reflection based on course goals)

3-14: SPRING BREAK
3-16: SPRING BREAK

3-21: Workshop with TUWC staffersbring in first 2-3 pages of draft
3-23: Presentations 1-3 (drafts due for 7-9 and 13-15)

3-28: Presentations 4-6 (drafts due for 10-12)
3-30: Workshop with TUWC staffersbring in first 6-7 pages of draft

4-4: Presentations 7-9 (drafts due for 1-3)
4-6: No class/SW at SSCA conference (use this time for draft development/writing center
conferences, etc)

4-11: Presentations 10-12 (drafts due for 4-6)
4-13: Presentations 13-15 (SWA #5 is due the class session after your partner presents)

4-17: READING DAY/Please turn in final projects and SWA #6 by noon (via email as a Word or
PDF attachment)
