VISIT TO THAIKKAT MOOS E.T.M OUSHADHASALA

(INDIA) LTD

INTRODUCTION
As part of our academics, we have been given a project to visit any
industry and to study about the various departments and their
functioning. For this purpose we chose to visit the ETM oushadhasala in
Vellangallur, On 2nd november, we started our project and went to the
company. We reached there at 10 A.M, On reaching there we are greeted
by Mr.Jayakumar M, he is the HR manager of that company. He directed
us to the General manager Mr. Mohan K we requested him for his
approval for doing the project in their company. he agreed and
introduced us to Chief accountant Mr. Joy Joseph who is the chief
accountant of the company, he is a senior staff there and working there
since the company was established . He knows everything about the
company. With his experience and knowledge, he helped us to collect
required data for our project. We expressed our sincere gratitude to them
and left the company at 12 P.M.
On 3rd November 2016, our second day of the industrial visit we reached
there at 10 AM and met the head of the research and development
department Ms. Rekha kn. She explained us the various products that are
manufactured by the ETM Oushadhasala. We visited their warehouse
and with that, we completed our industrial visit.

COMPANY PROFILE
E.T.M oushadhasala is a public Ltd Co. Incorporated under the
name and style of "THAIKKATTU MOOS E.T.M.OUSHADHASALA
(INDIA) LTD". They are manufacturing and marketing high-quality
Ayurvedic Classical and Patent Medicines under the control of Ashta
Vaidyan Thaikkattu Moos, who are very famous for their quality
medicines in India. They have standardized the quality, thanks to their
modern technology and types of equipment and can stand any rigid
quality test .Their quality control and Assay departments live up to the
international challenges. An elaborate research and development
department manned by highly qualified personnel at appropriate points
and places provides the necessary trust and safeguard to the production
system. They have tied up with some of the cardinal international brands
which offer machinery solutions. It is this association that has enabled
them to achieve and sustain global standards of characteristic elegance
and quality service. The company has total 300 retail shops and 230
suppliers.
In 1914, as an organized venture, E. T. M Vaidyasala was established
and had since been synonymous with Ayurveda its competence,
reliability, and efficacy to eradicate diseases and to restore good
health.The India's best quality Ayurvedic Medicines manufacturers

The Thaikkattu Mooss E. T. M. Oushadashala (India) Ltd. is certified by
the authorities that it amply meets all the specifications and standards
stipulated by the Governments for Good Manufacturing Practices (G. M.
P.) ISO 9001-2000 certification is also obtained by our company. We are
the first to qualify and obtain this international certification among the
Ashtavaidya Ayurvedic Pharmacies in Kerala. Apart from the
Government of Kerala, the Central Government has also approved our
medicines, whereby the employees of the Central Government, Public
Sector and Joint Sector undertakings are eligible under reimbursement
scheme.

VARIOUS DEPARTMENT

SALES AND MARKETING

Sales and marketing department performs market research, develops
promotional plans and manages personal selling strategies. Research is
used to identify the preferences of target markets. Data is used to prepare
and revise solutions.
Mr.PS Vasudevan Namboodiri is the manager of the marketing
department. He has 14 subordinates in marketing working under him .
software provided by PENDA soft is used in this departments
computerization of various tasks. Customer service section is handled by
Mr.Johnson NP, Ms.Jyothi varma, Mr.Viswambaran NP.Customers
contact the company for clearing doubts regarding the usage of
medicines, so if they need an assistance of doctors, the call will be
connected to the doctors in the company. They have two doctors
Dr.Sreelakshmi and Dr.Vijaykumar.The company does not have any
fixed target.In last year 1 crore was achieved. The sales are through
various dealers in each district.Targets are assigned to each distributor
according to their previous year's performance. The major market of
their products is in the southern parts of India, mainly in Kerala and also
the products are sold in few places in north India like Uttarakhand.

LOGISTICS/PURCHASE DEPARTMENT
Purchasing department procures all necessary materials needed for
production or daily operation of the company, That will be medicinal
plants and seeds etc. The purchasing department also ensures that the
products are receiving at best possible price. Purchase department is
handled by Mr. Sunil KN. Purchase procurement is on the basis of the
sales movement. Most of the material is procured locally. The company
does have some trusted sources for the materials .The logistics providers
are VRL transport,APS transport, JM transport.Among them, the
APS(Aleppey parcel service) is the trusted logistics provider of the
company. The company has only two pickup vans. The raw material are
mainly collect from Thrissur. AVS Corporation and Cherayath
Corporation are the trusted Raw material providers in Thrissur. And In
Bangalore, AB Mouli corporation and Punjab Navbaradhi corporation.
The company is not now into the exporting.

HR DEPARTMENT
The function of the HR department is to maximize employee
performance in service of an employer's strategic objectives. HR is
primarily

concerned

with

the management of

people

within

organizations, focusing on policies and systems. There is only one

person working under HR section. Mr.Jayakumar M is the director of the
HR department. He handles the worker's grievances and analyses the
problems of the workers and solves them in an efficient manner. He is
also one of the members of the interview panel for hiring workers. The
selection procedure is based on the interview with qualified and
experienced candidates. The company has permanent and temporary
workers. They have 40 permanent workers and 15 workers are
temporary.

ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT
The Accounts department handles the financial aspects of the business.
This department keeps updated records of money paid, received and
borrowed. Basically, the accounting department manages the economic
front of the business. Mr.Joy joseph is the accountant of the
company.The software is provided by PENTA soft for accounting.The
average annual turnover of the company is Rs. 6 Crore. Auditing is done
yearly and internal auditing is done on a regular basis. They provide
credit up to 60% against cheque, fixed deposit, distributor agreement.
There are 10 workers under the account section.

WAREHOUSE DEPARTMENT
This company has a very large warehouse of 5000 sqft.They are divided
into two categories. One is for storing finished products and another is
for raw material.Warehouse department is handled by both Mr.Sunil
KN, store manager and Mr.Suresh PS,store keeper.They are keeping a
stock register to record the stock details.

FUTURE PLANS
The future plans of the company are to expand the network of dealers
and number of retail shops across India. The company also plans to
export the medicines to foreign countries.

CONCLUSION
It was a wonderful experience of studying various functions of a
company like ETM oushadhasala and about the various departments.
This visit helped to acquire more knowledge within and beyond our
syllabus. we are now able to better identify the prospective areas of work
in the overall organizational function. All of them in the company were
very cooperative. I especially express my words of gratitude to
Mr. JAYAKUMAR(HR DPT) and Ms.REKHA KN(RESEARCH AND
DEVELOPMENT DPT).
