Data centers account for 94% of our total electricity consumption. Our world-class energy
efficiency is made possible by ongoing innovations in the design and operation of our
data centers, and our focus on efficient code. We openly share the technology weve built
and the processes we use with the world.

Your Companys Carbon Footprint :-In 2015, Facebooks total

carbon footprint was 649,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MT CO2e)

Offices and other business activity account for 37%

of our carbon footprint. The other 63% is from our
data centers. Managing our data center carbon
intensity is a key priority. Read on to see how were

Plan for the Future :-When Facebook started out, we

rented space in shared data centers called colocation facilities where we had little control over
design, operational efficiency, or energy sourcing. In
2009, we started designing and building our own data
centers. In 2011, we opened the first of our own data

centers in Prineville, Oregon, designed for worldclass efficiency.

Access to clean and renewable energy is a key
criterion for where we locate our data centers. We
work with energy developers and utilities to help add
more renewable sources of electricity to regional
grids. Clean and renewable energy supplies 100% of
the energy required by our newest data centers in
Lule, Sweden, and Altoona, Iowa. Similarly, wind
power will provide 100% of the electricity for our next
two, currently under construction in Fort Worth,
Texas, and Clonee, Ireland.

Hardware :-Introducing Facebook Surround 360: An open, high-quality 3D-360 video

capture system

Facebook has designed and built a durable, highquality 3D-360 video capture system.

The system includes a design for camera hardware

and the accompanying stitching code, and we will
make both available on GitHub this summer. We're

open-sourcing the camera and the software.

The system exports 4K, 6K, and 8K video for each
eye. The 8K videos double industry standard output
and can be played on Gear VR with Facebook's
custom Dynamic Streaming technology.

Facebook to open-source AI hardware design

FAIR has achieved noted advancements in the development of AI training hardware considered to
be among the best in the world.
We have done this through a combination of hardware expertise, partner relationships with
vendors, and a significant strategic investment in AI research.
FAIR is more than tripling its investment in GPU hardware as we focus even more on research
and enable other teams across the company to use neural networks in our products and services.
As part of our ongoing commitment to open source and open standards, we plan to contribute our
innovations in GPU hardware to the Open Compute Project so others can benefit from them

Protection Act, which requires minors aged 13 or younger to gain explicit parental
consent to access commercial websites
Facebook has a real-name system policy for user profiles. The real-name policy stems
from the position "that way, you always know who you're connecting with. This helps keep
our community safe.
The government of the United States has designated Hamas as a Foreign Terrorist
Organization and the suit alleges that Facebook provided Hamas with "material support"
in violation of US Anti-Terrorism laws.[381][382]
Ban
in many countries the social networking sites and mobile apps have been blocked
temporarily or permanently. In Bangladesh, the government has been blocking Facebook,
WhatsApp, Tango, Viber and many other sites and apps since November 18, 2015. [422]
