The200mmgraphitebackedanodediskusedontheMRC800hasaveryhighmaximumheat
loadingcapacity,directheatconductionandalargesurfaceareaforrapidheatdissipation.
Additionally,theanodeisdirectlycooledthroughthepatentedspiralgroovebearing,givingtheMRC
800heatmanagementcapabilityfarsuperiortoaconventionalballbearingdesign.Thiscapabilityis
furthersupportedbythelargeheatcapacityofthehousingassemblyandtheefficientheat
exchanger.

WhydoesPhilipsMedicalSystemsstatean"EffectiveHeatStorageCapacity"inadditiontothe
maximumanodeheatstoragecapacityaccordingtotheIEC613Standard?

HighperformanceXRaytubesareoftenrankedjustbytheirmaximumanodeheatstoragecapacity.
But,thoughtheanodemaybeofthesamesize,PhilipsMRCtubesallowmuchfastercoolingthana
conventionaltube.Thespiralgroovebearingwithalargearealiquidmetalcontactprovidesan
additionalheatsinkofstrongdirectheatconduction.Also,themetaltubeenvelopedrawsenergyof
scatteredelectronsawayfromtheanode,sotheanodestayscoolerandcoolsfaster.Thisisnot
reflectedbythetraditionalIECterminology.Toeaseaonetoonecomparisonofconventionaland
MRCtubes,weexactlycalculatedthe"EffectiveHeatStorageCapacity",measuredinMHUeff.Now,
tubescaneasilybecompared.Andtheresultsareremarkable.

ThesecondgenerationofMRChighperformanceCTtubeshasbeenupdatedtoeffectivelymanage
gantryrotationtimesshorterthan0.4sec.withmotionfreefocalspotperformance.Motionfree
focalspotguaranteesoptimizedimagequalityinultrahighspatialresolutionwithMultisliceCT.The
DynamicFocalSpot(DFS)doublesthedatasamplingdensityfromthedetectorsandallowsfor
artifactfreeultrahighspatialresolutioninaxialandspiralscanning.Asaresult,theMRC800is
ideallysuitedtothespecificrequirementsofPhilipsnewBrillianceCT40channelconfiguration.

ThetubeisinstalledintheXraytubehousingROT5006andisavailableasacompletetubehousing
assembly.TheheatexchangerCU6100isavailableseparately.
