METHODOLOGY
Structure was analysed as three dimensional framed structures, it was modelled by using
STAAD.Pro software, basic loads were applied in the model and all the critical load combinations
were considered in the analysis and design of the structure.
The skid was analysed by using STAAD.Pro for load combinations identified as per EN
1990:2002+A1:2005.The design of the skid was found to be safe for the load with the given
arrangement.
Skid Dimensions: - Length 4930mm x Wide 1000mm.
For In place condition of the skid:
The skid base frame is directly rest on the supporting surface without any permanent connection
between the skid and the supporting surface.
For lifting analysis of the skid:
For Lifting Analysis, The weight of the skid considered with the equipment. Two type methods
considered for lifting.

Fork Lift Four Fork Lift Pockets are provided in the skid base frame, and the pockets are stiffened
by channel member and plate.
Four Point Lift In Skid base frame, the 6 NPS pipe connected to the lifting arrangement. The
location of the hook is adjusted to match with the eccentricity of the load system

1.7

INPLACE ANALYSIS
1. For In-place Analysis, skid weight considered as 4.5 TON (Test load).
2. The Equipment Weight is taken from the reference drawing no.15-1206-01-DWG-01 sheet 1/1

LIFTING ANALYSIS
1. The skid self-weight and equipment weight considered for the lifting analysis.
2. The Equipment Weight is taken from the reference drawing no.15-1206-01-DWG-01 sheet 1/1

COORDINATE SYSTEM IN THE STAAD

The coordinate system used in the STAAD model was chosen as follows:

X-Axis: longitudinal direction of the structure.

Y-Axis: vertical direction, positive pointing upwards.
Z-Axis: transverse direction of the structure

Assumption in support condition

The base skid is resting on the supporting surface. The supporting surface resists the vertical force.
Hence Restrained against Vertical direction support provided.

Assumption in support condition

Four Fork Lift Pockets are provided in the skid base frame, and the pockets are stiffened by channel
member and plate. During the Fork lifting, the channel member act as support and resists both horizontal
and vertical forces. Hence pinned support provided.

From the STAAD static results check, we can calculate the Skid self-weights C.O.G. The equipment
C.O.G is calculated manually. The C.O.G of the skid is interpolated from the C.O.G of Equipment &
Skid self-weight.

Note: The Centre of Gravity (C.O.G) is given from the edge of the beam in the base frame of the skid
structure.
