The more, Therefore, the Hindus study the past, the more glorious will be their
future, and whoever tries to bring the past to the door of everyone, is a great
benefactor to his nation.
-Vivekananda.
Preserved and inherited through oral tradition till today, the Vedas are the largest volume
of intangible heritage of India. Its language, Samskrutam, is the most refined among all
modern and ancient living languages. Indian culture is Veda oriented at large and Indian
nature friendly way of life owes to the living Vedas.
The Vedas, unlike the modern sciences, are gathered by the Rishis as they intuited them.
The Vedas are interpreted into two categories viz. Para Vidya and Apara Vidya. Hence
Veda Vidya denotes the collective contents of the Vedas. To rediscover India’s
knowledge heritage it is necessary to decode them. Although many seem to have intuited
that the Vedas contain ultra modern scientific content, much research has not taken place
to decode the Vedic resources to verify and/or falsify such intuitions and to validate
seemingly successful stray attempts to translate them into working theories and
technological models. The very coinage ‘Vedic Sciences’ needs to be defined in the light
of systematic content development and research with Vedic and modern parameters.
Obviously this demands understanding the Vedas in the language of the Vedas, which is
Samskrutam, or else it may otherwise get conditioned, crippled and contorted.
Do the Vedas contain scientific information? Are the Vedic technologies science based or
are they mere artisanship? Do these have parallel disciplines to modern sciences? Are
they more advanced? Claims, if any, are to be verified on the platform of modern science
which demands universal evidences and valid proof. Can the available research data
stand the test of modern science? Is modern science perfect and refined enough to do
this?
There is the need for a platform where young and dynamic researchers who have
Samskrutam and Science background are addressed regarding the prospects of such a
rewarding endeavor which would help rediscover the Indian heritage on one hand and
derive optimum benefits for humankind on the other. The conference initiates the efforts
to create conducive research environment and develop relevant methodology for this
purpose.
Correcting the colonial deliberate errors like “Aryan invasion” perpetrated against
the Indian identity.
Claiming the achievements of the Vedic Rishis and modern Rishis like Sir J.C
Bose.
Propagating the Indian scientific heritage among the Indians across the globe,
Mother Earth.

The Science of Oral Traditions of the Vedas: Chanting, Content and Structure.
