Just Married

Materials:

DMC cotton Petra size 8


ecru, white, black, grey, blue, green, brown
0.75mm crochet hook
DMC cotton Petra size 5 in green (for the base only)
1.5mm hook and 1.25mm hook (for the base only)
Soft toy filling
Needle, Scissors
Soft pastel (for cheeks)
Pipe cleaners/thin wire
70mm wooden circle (for the base)
PVA glue, cello tape, card (thick paper)
Paper rose buds (for brides bouquet)

Size:

approx. height is 12cm with the arch (dolls are approx. 9cm tall),
diameter of the base is 7.5cm

Abbreviations:

ch=chain
st(s)=stitch(es)
ss=slip stitch
sc=single crochet
2sc=inc=increase (2 single crochets in the same st)
dec=invisible decrease (insert hook in the front loops of the next 2 st(s), yarn over, pull through first 2
loops, yarn over, pull through both loops)
sc3tog=single crochet three stitches together=decrease over 3 stitches

Notes:

Most of the sections are worked in rounds, each round is closed off with a slip stitch (ss) to first st of
the round and the next round is started with a chain (ch), but there are sections worked in
continuous spiral and in rows
Change colour in the last loop of the st before the colour change
Stuff firmly as you work or as indicated (use other end of the hook to push the filling in)
Use DMC petra size 8 and 0.75mm hook for every project section, except the base

Groom
Leg (make 2): with dark grey, work in rounds, close off each round with ss, make a magic ring,
leaving a long tail (for sewing your finished doll to the base later)
1. 6sc into magic ring, join with ss (6)

3. ch1, (back loop only) sc in each st around, join with ss (12)

Change colour (light grey)

Fasten off just the 1st leg, dont fasten off other leg

Body and head: work in rounds, close off each round with ss. Place the legs as shown in the first

picture below (fastened off leg from the right side and toes away from you), insert the hook into 4th st of
the right leg, find and pull the loop (from other leg) through and ch1

1. sc in each st around first leg, sc in each st around other leg, join with ss (16)

3.-4. repeat round 2.
Change colour (white)
5. ch1, sc in each st around, join with ss (16)
Insert pipe cleaner in legs (or you may wish to stuff the legs instead)

Start stuffing the body

Change colour (ecru)

Assembly:

Waist line: ss around between rounds 5 and 6 in white, counting from neck. Fasten off, leaving a
long tail (use it later for arm/shoulder straps)

Insert pipe cleaner in arms, sew arms to both sides of the body (to 1st round in ecru after dress)
Now, with the remaining tail from waist line, make arm/shoulder straps: ch20 and stitch them to
body

Tie a light blue ribbon around waist line

Embroider the eyes (8th round counting from neck and 10st(s) apart)
Embroider mouth (between rounds 4 and 5 counting from neck)
Blush cheeks using soft pastel
Embroider hair

Arch/base assembly:

sew bride and groom to the base (stuff the brides dress slightly to keep the shape)

insert thin wire (or pipe cleaner) in the arch, sew flowers and leaves to the arch

cut out paper circle (for example, from cereal box) as big as your base, put it under the base
place the arch on the base, pass it through the crocheted part, then through your paper circle

sew the arch ends to the base and with the remaining
yarn tails stitch together paper and crocheted parts
secure the wire ends with cello tape
glue wooden circle to finish off the base
