In a trend that could easily be described as Malcolmania, here is another book about the legendary leader, prophet, and teacher. While the book is heavily illustrated (it is in fact a tie-in to the PBS "American Experience" documentary on Malcolm that aired in January), this tome is more than just a photographic essay. Malcolm's story is interestingly told in a text chockfull of snippits: "In Their Own Words" from family, close friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and those Malcolm X influenced. Many of the photographs have been reproduced in other publications, but there are also less frequently published images of Malcolm at work and of the people he worked with. Seeing Malcolm in action in these photographs will be as powerful for the reader as reading his words
