Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

Explain the reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal,


health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities
relevant to professional engineering practice. [PO6, LO5];{A4}.
Identify the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and
environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for
sustainable development [PO7, LO4,];{A4}.
Identify ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and
responsibilities and norms of engineering practice. [PO8 LO6];{A4}.
Explain the knowledge and understanding of engineering and management
principles and apply these to ones own work, as a member and leader in a
team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments; [PLO12,
LO4,];{C5}.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers the fundamentals of engineering ethics, Sustainable Development and
finance in the working environment. These include the implementation act and regulation
for engineer in Malaysia such Professionalism and Codes of Ethics, Employment Act
1955 law of contract, Building laws, Environmental Quality Act and SPRM. The course
also covers the ethical theories and problem solving techniques. Besides that, the course
also emphasizes on Sustainable Development, Economic sustainability, Environment
sustainability, Pollution and its control/prevention. Organizational, Human Resource
Management, Engineering economic and will also be covered. The lectures are academic
staff with industrial experience. The invited external speakers from various professional
engineering backgrounds will be invite for exposure to engineering practice.
