Explain that there are two kinds of safety rules: one kind
explains what people should do to be safe; the other kind
explains what people should not do to be safe. Make a
T-Chart on large sheet of paper. At the top of the left column
write We Should. At the top of the right column write We
Should Not. Brainstorm with children rules for each column.
We Should rules include:
Post the chart in the classroom. As you and the children talk
about the classroom rules throughout the year, add them to
the chart.
