(That 3rd week, I think Im just going to review the
two stories)

This class is only once a week for most of you. In my classes, I
normally would go over the vocabulary words daily so that they
remember. If they only hear that vocabulary once a week, they
wont remember. Remember your beginner students. The

returning students should already know its raining, but your

beginners wont.

ESL Class:-

Greetings, colors, numbers, school vocabularywhat they do at school; what they learn at school, classroom
objects, school subjects, describing themselves and others,
important actions (run, dont run, jump, walk, swim, sing, dance,
eat, drink, go, come, hit, dont hit, etc.). Remember the level of
English you have in your class. Plan to do something for the
beginners and still challenge the advanced. For the more
advanced, they can talk about different subjects. What is their
favorite? What do they do in different classes? Make them speak
in complete sentences. Combine colors with something more
difficult. ENCOURAGE THEM TO TALK IN ENGLISH CONSTANTLY!!!!
IF THEY ASK YOU A QUESTION IN SPANISH, TELL THEM HOW TO
SAY IT IN ENGLISH AND THEN HAVE THEM REPEAT IT. WHEN THE
BEGINNERS SPEAK TO YOU IN SPANISH, TELL THEM HOW TO SAY
IN ENGLISH AND HAVE THEM REPEAT IT. IF THEY ARE ADVANCED,
DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO SPEAK IN SPANISH. WHEN YOURE
TEACHING, MAKE THEM REPEAT WORDS YOU SAY IN ENGLISH, SO
THEYLL BE ACTIVE. MAKE IT CONSTANT!

Activities to Prepare:

Da de la Paz (in class) Sept

21
Da de la Biblia (Presentations)
Sept 25

Goals for the Month:-

By the end of the month, all the

kids should know how to ask to go to the bathroom, ask for water,
tell the teacher that they have finished, etc. They should
understand and use please, thank you, youre welcome, come
here, etc. They should know important classroom objects, such as
notebook, backpack, chair/desk, table, chalk board, door, scissors,

floor, trash can, crayons, etc. They should know and be able to
say the majority (hopefully all) of the actions that you have been
teaching. They should understand and obey common commands
like sit down, stand up, be quiet, finish your work, raise your
hand, etc. They should be able to talk about the weather,
depending on their level of English. For the beginners, they should
know and say vocabulary like its sunny, its raining, clouds, its
hot, its cold, lightning, thunder. For more advanced students,
they should know that vocabulary plus more complicated
information in relation to weather, like storms, tornadoes,
hurricanes, snow, fog, wind, etc. They should be able to
understand and talk about the Bible stories. Their ability to
answer questions in English will depend on their English level.
They should all know the story, however. They all should be able
to reasonably say the Bible verses in English and Spanish (with
exception to the younger kids).
