Dear Mrs. Cole,
My teacher, Dora Mendoza, informed me of the summer volunteer program offered at
Baylor Scott & White. I have also heard of this program through other conduits and have heard
positive feedback from the volunteers about their experience. Through this program, I hope to
gain more exposure to and obtain more experience within the field of medicine.
I am currently a junior enrolled at Jack E Singley Academy. Through the health science
program offered at my school, I am pursuing a certification in nursing assisting and will gain
additional clinical experience in the spring. Within the same program, I have also participated in
the Baylor Practicum where I shadowed and observed staff in the various units of Baylor. As a
result, I am already familiar with the layout of the hospital and the hospital policies. In school, I
have taken courses pertaining to medical terminology, the principles of health science, health
science technology, and anatomy & physiology. And through the school, I also possess a BLS
CPR certification. With these experiences and my current medical knowledge, I hope to
successfully utilize it within the program and expand it as well.
