PERSONAL
1. Can you shortly tell about yourself?
My name is Awara Falah, I have be English teacher for 7 years at
Baxtyar school.
TEACHING
2. What qualities do you feel are most important for a teacher to
have?
I think the most important quality teacher should have is selfconfidence and self-esteem.
3. What are your expectations for your students?
I always think optimistically about my students, therefore; I expect
from them more than they expect from themselves
4. How do you gain and maintain student attention?
Students attention can be gained easily by several ways among them
a) Teachers sound quality must be right for the class and audible
by all the students.
b) Using some expressions to attract them like listen., look..., etc.
c) Knocking the whiteboard with the marker.
d) Staring at the student who is sitting absent-mindedly at the
class.
e) Calling the student in name.
5. What do you do to motivate a student who is failing, just
getting by, or who is below grade level?
Various learning style of the students sometimes comes from his/her
environmental and family backgrounds so some of them are good and
some of them are not, but at last it is teacher who guide the best and
suitable style to follow.
6. How do you address the various learning styles of your
students?
Having a perfect lesson plan and seeing its reflection on the students.
7. In what ways, do you personally evaluate your teaching?
-To me, it is the students evaluation result that judges my teaching.
So, I say to what extend students get the lesson to that level my
lesson is effective.

8. Can you describe a successful lesson?


- A lesson can be called successful if it is:
a) Followed a firm lesson plan.
b) Responded and welcomed by most of the students at class.
Taught with fun and students feel free and relaxed.

9. What are your classroom rules and how are they established?
My class rules arent restricted and not loose, it is simple and friendly
in away helps to create a cooperating environment but at the same
timekeeping the boundaries between teacher and students are being
observed.

is your approach to discipline and how do you maintain

it?
My approach to discipline a student may be one of the following:
a) Mark deduction.
b) Personally, speaking with.
c) Speaking to the whole with the intention to get him/her what is
right and reasonable for him/her.
And I can maintain it by telling the students what I want is only
their goodness and I undoubtedly want to see their
successfulness in life.

What kind of relationship do you foster with your
students?
Not to be very cruel and not to be very mild something in between.
However, the situation may vary according to the individuals.

How do you determine each individual child's potential?
Childs potential could be specified either by testing and examining
on paper or practically by observing his/her activeness at class.

How do you measure a childs educational achievement in
ways other than by testing?

By looking at his /her interests for example s/he interests in doing


puzzle it means s/he is capable of solving mathematical and
complicated equations.
PARENTS

What kind of relationship do you foster with the parents
of your students?
Unfortunately, the relationship here in Kurdistan is not so strong like
other advanced communities around the world. This may come from a
fault in our educational body system which is not attempted to oblige
parents to be in contact with school regularly, they rather do it with
freewill.

How do you enable communication with parents?
We, teachers in Kurdistan usually connect with the parents of students
via school administration in a form of monthly meeting with them.
16.
How do you include parents in their childs classroom?
we have never had parents in classroom during the lesson.

Can you tell us what do you do in case ?

One of your students does not turn in any homework?
-firstly, I warn him/her and tell to do so; otherwise s/he will get mark
deduction.
If s/he doesnt do, I will try to speak with him/her to know is there any
problem or not.
The last thing I resort to is informing his/her parents with the help of
school administration

One of your students refuses to do any classroom
assignments?
first, I will try to speak with him/her and try to persuade him/her to do
so , or s/he will get punishment for his/her carelessness , for instance
s/he will lose all the marks which are dedicated to assignments .
19.
One of your students is absent more than he/she attends
school?

I will inform the school manager to call his/her parents to be aware of


that situation then I will do my best by speaking privately with him/her
to know what is wrong with him/her.
