and Junior Network Engineers (JNE)

The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) is an Autonomous Organization under the Ministry of
Railways. It develops and manages critical Information Technology applications of the Indian Railways,
including the well-known Passenger Reservation System, the Freight Operations Information System,
and the Unreserved Ticketing System, among others. CRIS possesses state-of-the-art infrastructure at
its offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Secunderabad.
Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) intends to recruit 40 Junior Software Engineers (JSE)
and 14 Junior Network Engineers (JNE) for its ongoing and upcoming projects. Selection would be
based on an Online Test to be conducted at New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Secunderabad.

Note: The cut-off date for determining the age limits shall be 31 December 2016.
UR Unreserved, OBC-NCL Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layer, SC - Scheduled Caste,
ST-Scheduled Tribe, PWD Persons with Disability.
(i) Requirements indicated above are tentative and the same may increase/decrease based upon
requirement of CRIS.
(ii) 3% of the requirements are reserved for PWD [degree of disability over 40% of one leg (OL)
and partially deaf (PD)]. Age limit would be further relaxed by 10 years for PWD candidates.
For JSE, 1 position is reserved for PWD candidate as per Government of India rules.
(iii) Candidates should note that only the Date of Birth recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary
School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate, will be accepted by CRIS for
determining the age eligibility and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or
granted.

Candidates holding 4-year degree in Computer Science or Computer
Engineering, or 3 year MCA, may apply.
Degree should be recognized by UGC / AIU / AICTE. Degrees through
Distance Education should be recognized by Distance Education Bureau of
UGC.

Candidates appearing for the Online test must hold the qualifying diploma / degree on the
date of applying for the said post wherein they have secured minimum 60% marks (55%
for SC/ST/PWD candidates), and fulfill other eligibility criteria. Equivalent qualifications
as per Government of India rules are acceptable.
Recruitment would be subject to verification of character, educational qualifications, and
other certificates required.
Period of Employment: The appointment to the advertised post will be on contractual
basis for a period of 5 years; which includes a probationary period of one year unless
extended by the Competent Authority.
During the period of probation, an employee shall be liable to be discharged from service of
CRIS without notice or without assigning any reasons, at the sole discretion of CRIS.
Further extension of contract beyond five years and progression in the
organization will be governed by the relevant CRIS rules.

Marks in the Qualifying Degree Examination:


For the purpose of this recruitment, if no formula or method has been specified by the
university/institute for conversion of CGPA/GPA into equivalent percentage marks, the
following formula will be used. Conversion from CGPA/GPA to Percentage if no formula
has been specified by the university/institute. All CGPAs / GPAs are converted to
Percentages as follows:
If the CGPA is X out of 10, then the corresponding percentage is (X-0.75)10. (CGPAs /
GPAs in scales other than 10 will be linearly scaled to 10 before applying the above
conversion formula).
For the purpose of calculating the aggregate final marks, the method specified by the
Institute/University will be followed. In case no method is specified by the concerned
Institute/University, the aggregate percentage of all semesters/years would be taken.
APPLICATION FEE
Application fee is Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) + Bank charges as applicable for
General/OBC-NCL candidates. There is no application fee for SC/ST/PWD candidates or
women candidates.
Fee should be deposited in CRISs Account with State Bank of India after completing Step-2 of
the registration process described below unless they are exempted from depositing the fee.
HOW TO APPLY
Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions have to apply through online registration
system of CRIS website www.cris.org.in under tab Careers.
Please go carefully also detailed instructions given on the main page of online filling up of
application.
No application through other mode will be accepted. No documents are required to be sent to
CRIS in connection with the application.
Online submission of the applications will be allowed on the website. The last date for
registration and submission of application (Step-1 & Step-2) is 08.02.2017 up to 06:00 PM and
On-Line submission of application fees through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking through
SB collect system of State Bank of India (SBI) is 14.02.2017 up to 11:30 PM (Step-3).
While applying on-line, candidate should have the following readily available:
E-mail ID (which must be valid for at least one year from the date of application)
Mobile No (which must be valid for at least one year from the date of application)
Un reserved and OBC candidates have to pay a non-refundable fees of Rs.1000/(Rupees One thousand Only) and applicable bank charges as Processing and
Examination fees on line mode only, as per instruction given in above website, upon
completion of registration and submission of application.

Demand Draft/ Money Order / Postal Order or any other mode of payment is NOT
acceptable.
A soft copy of recent colour passport size photograph of the full face (front view) (not
older than 3 weeks) of file size up to 100 kb in jpg/ jpeg format. Ensure that the size of
the scanned image is not more than 100 kb.
A soft copy of signature file should be in jpg/ jpeg format. Ensure that the size of the
scanned image is not more than 100 kb.
Scanned soft copy of relevant document (as applicable) up to 1 MB in pdf format.
Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 1 MB.
Online payment of Processing and Examination fees and valid email ID, Mobile Number,
Photograph & Signature are mandatory fields without which applications will not be
submitted.
STEPS FOR APPLYING:
Step-1 (SIGN UP):
a) Candidates are now ready to apply on-line by visiting the CRIS website and going to the tab
CAREER on CRIS website www.cris.org.in under tab Careers
b) Candidates will get the instructions page and they will have to accept the terms &
conditions by clicking 'I Agree' Checkbox given below and pressing the 'Start' button.
c) Applicants are needs to sign up first with their valid E-mail ID and Mobile No. with them
while signing up.
d) The login details will be sent to the email id provided, so candidates are advised to verify
the correctness of the email id before proceeding.
STEP- 2:
a) Candidates are now ready to apply on-line by revisiting the On-line Application website at
CRIS website www.cris.org.in under tab Careers
b) The candidate should now login with the received User id and password and fill up all the
information asked in the on-line form about himself/herself correctly and complete the
Application.
c) The candidate should now fill up all the desired information in the online form about
himself/herself correctly. The candidate will see his/her application under option
PREVIEW. Before submission of his/her Step-II details, the candidate should check his/her
all details and make necessary corrections, under option EDIT (if any). Candidates are not
allowed to change the Email id and Mobile Number during Editing of application details.
d) On successful registration of on-line application, candidates are advised not to attempt for
re-registration for the same post. In case of multiple registrations for the same post, the
candidature is liable for cancellation/rejection without any notice/intimation to the
candidate. Candidate is required to download the online form generated by the System
with unique registration number, which may be retained for future reference.

Instructions to upload Photo, Signature, Category (if applicable) and other relevant
Certificates
Applicants should upload the scanned (digital) image of their photograph, signature and other
relevant Certificates as per the process given below. The applicant should note that only jpg or
jpeg /pdf formats are acceptable:
i) Photograph:
a) Photograph must be a recent passport size colour photograph (not older than 03 weeks).
b) Make sure that the photograph is in colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably
white, background. Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face. If the photograph is
taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you, or place yourself in the shade, so that you
are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows. If you have to use flash, ensure theres
no red-eye. If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can
be clearly seen. Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is
allowed but it must not cover your face.
c) Dimensions of the image should be approximately 200X230 pixels. It will not be possible to
accommodate larger images. Size of file should be up to 100 kb in jpg/jpeg format only.
Please ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 100 kb.
d) If the size of the file is too large, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI
resolution, number of colours etc., during the process of scanning. Minimum resolution
should be 200 dpi.
ii) Signature image:
a) The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black ink pen.
b) The signature must be of the applicant only and not of any other person. If at any stage the
signature is not found to be matching with the candidates actual signature, the applicants
candidature may be summarily rejected.
c) Please scan the signature area only and not the entire page.
d) Dimensions of the image should be approximately 140X60 pixels. It will not be possible to
accommodate larger images. Size of file should be up to 100 kb in jpg/jpeg format only.
Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 100 kb.

iii) Category/Educational Qualification & other relevant Certificates & Uploading of the
same:
a) Please scan the relevant certificates (issued by competent authority), should be clearly
visible.
b) Size of file should be up to 1MB in PDF format only. Ensure that the size of the scanned
image is not more than 1 MB.
If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed. In such a case,
change the size and format of the file as required and re-upload.
STEP- 3: Submission of Application Fees
a)
On completion of Step-2, and after 24 hours candidate needs to Login and Click on Make
Online Payment link and deposit the requisite examination fee through On-line mode
only.
b)

The candidates who have deposited the application fee can re-login to check their payment
status on the next working day, although it may take up to 48 hours from the Banks
business closing hours for the payment to be confirmed.

c)

In case the candidate has deposited the fees in the Bank online, but he / she has not
received the Email or SMS even after 48 hours of the deposit of the fees, then he / she
should send the details in the Grievance Redressal Form, given at the end of this
advertisement and send the same by email along with a scanned copy of the e-receipt at
the mail id crishelpdesk.2017@gmail.com .

METHOD FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FEES (Non-refundable):


Candidate needs to re-login and click the link/tab Make Online
Payment active after 24 hours of submission of the application. The
candidates are required to click on Make Online Payment after 24
hrs of submission of online application and deposit the requisite
examination fee online through Internet Banking /Debit/Credit Card
only from State Bank Collect system of State Bank of India (SBI)
website. The journal number or the Transaction number given by the
Bank is to be retained for future reference. The details of fees to be
deposited by the candidate through On-line mode are as follows:

MODE OF SELECTION:
Online Computer Test would be conducted for placing the candidates in order of merit
according to the marks obtained. In case the marks obtained are same, then the one with the
earlier date of birth would be placed higher in the order of merit. In case of tie in date of birth
also, candidate with higher marks/percentage in the qualifications required will be placed
higher in the order of merit. Candidates will be considered in the order of merit only.
MEDICAL FITNESS:

Short-listed candidates would have to pass the medical examination before joining as per CRIS
Rules.
POSTING
The selected candidates could be posted at CRIS Headquarters in New Delhi or at any of the
Regional Offices at New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Secunderabad (Hyderabad), or
any project site in India, for specified duration as per the need and requirement of CRIS.
RESERVATIONS AND RELAXATIONS
Reservations and relaxations as per Government of India guidelines have been provided at
recruitment for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD (degree of disability 40% or above of one
leg (OL) and partially deaf (PD)) candidates. Candidates seeking reservation benefits available
for SC/ST/OBC/PWD must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation as per Government
of India rules/norms. They should also be in possession of the relevant certificates, in the
format prescribed by the Government of India, in support of their claim at the time of
application. CRIS may verify these certificates at any time during or after the recruitment
process.
SERVICE AGREEMENT BOND
The selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond of Rs. 1,00,000/(Rupees One Lakh only) to serve CRIS for at least 3 years after joining.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS


Only online applications are allowed. Manual/paper applications will not be entertained.
Applications sent through other modes will not be accepted / entertained and no further
intimation will be sent in this regard.
Candidature of a candidate is liable to be rejected at any stage of the recruitment process or
after recruitment or joining if any information provided by him / her is found to be false, or the
candidate is not found to conform to the eligibility criteria advertised.
All correspondence with CRIS will be through the registered email id of the candidate.
Candidates shortlisted for selection are required to submit their original Engineering
Diploma/Degree certificate and mark sheets of all semesters/years as documentary proof of
having passed the qualifying Diploma/Degree examination in the relevant discipline/branch
with minimum prescribed percentage of marks as indicated above on the date of joining or
latest by 31st March 2017.
Candidates employed with Government Departments/PSUs/ Autonomous Bodies should
produce an NOC from their organizations at the time of submission of the above documents.
CRIS reserves the right to cancel/restrict/enlarge/modify/alter the recruitment process if the
need so arises, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason whatsoever.
The decision of CRIS in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of the
applications, penalty for furnishing false information, mode of selection, place of first posting,
etc. will be final and binding on the candidates and no enquiry/correspondence will be
entertained in this regard.
Legal jurisdiction will be of NCT of Delhi in case of any dispute/legal point.
Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
