Personality Review of the Movie: Forrest Gump

The movie Forrest Gump is the romantic comedy movie about a man named Forrest Gump who
suffered from deformed legs and has an IQ of below average. He is a very lucky fellow as he
comes across various opportunities while running from the bullies. He gets himself a football
scholarship, gets enlisted in army, gets into shrimping business to fulfill Bubbas dreams and
finally gets married to the love of his life.
Despite having many ups and downs in his life. He is never lets anything difficulties interfere
with his happiness and has the perseverance to continue doing things that he feels important to
him. Forrest is an inspirational person in this movie and inspired people around him.
The personality traits of Forrest Gump are described as follows:
1. Inspirational
Forrest was an inspirational person who influenced and motivated people around him.
His perseverance and his will power made him not to give up on any circumstances that
he faced and kept on moving forward.
2. Loyalty
Forrest was a simple man who had high morals and principles in his life, he was very
loyal to his loved ones. Instead of saving himself in the war in Vietnam and running to a
safer place he put his lie in danger and saved all the remaining soldiers life. After earning
huge amount of money from the shrimping business and becoming a millionaire he
shared his profit with Bubbas family even though he was dead. Moreover, he always
looked up to Jenny despite being used and ditched by her many times. Forest was loyal to
Jenny from the very beginning till the end.
3. Integrity
Forrest demonstrated strong integrity when he gave Bubbas profit from his shrimping
business. No one knew of the profit he was making but he has the integrity within himself
to give the profit to his family. He kept other people in front of him every time like the
war in Vietnam, he saved everybodys life trying to save Bubbas life.
4. Perseverance
He chose to continue whatever he was doing in the best and worst cases in the movie. He
seemed to be very strict with his aim and didnt seem to quit once he set his objectives.
He was very focused on what he wanted to do and did not quit until he reached or
accomplish what he wanted. Like in Vietnam War he ran back and forth to save Bubbas
life and ended up saving many soldiers life. Likewise having to face many failures in the
shrimping business he did not quit until he became a millionaire.
5. Conscientiousness

Forrest was different from his childhood, he was simple and could manage to focus on
different things at one time. Even though he was not smart he had the ability to grasp
things quickly and was able to execute faster. He was so focused on anything said to him
that he would do it regardless of all the things happening around him. Like the time in the
football match, his coach had given him simple instructions to run from one side of the
field to the other, he ran so fast dodging everyone in the path. Likewise Jenny had told
him o run away from the bullies, he ran so fast breaking his braces he encountered many
opportunities in his life that made him successful. He was also brilliant at assembling the
riffles during the training and could play ping pong without stopping.
6. Negative Emotionality
Forrest showed high negative emotionality in the movie. He was emotionless on many
scenes such as his mothers demise, jenny breaking his heart many times, losing his
friend Bubba. He was shown very calm for a normal human being. He was very calm,
never showed sadness and used very less facial expressions while expressing. He always
mentioned of remembered Jenny while doing everything but was never broken when she
did not give him the love he deserved and ditched him many times. But he still was
hopeful of her and still wanted to be together with her.
