A Trip to Labradors New Walk

As President of the Outdoor Activities Club, I am delighted to write about our clubs
trip to the Labrador Nature and Coastal Walk earlier this year. The Walk is 2.1km
long and nature lovers can enjoy the flora, fauna and also a beautiful view of the
ocean along this walk.
We went on a sunny Saturday morning on the first of January. We decided to begin
our walk from Harbourfront MRT station since it was stated as the most relaxing
route and we will be able to see more things along the way.
The first stop is Bukit Chermin Boardwalk. It is 330m in length and elevated on the
sea along the coastal foothill of Bukit Chermin. There are information labels found
along the walking path which gives more information about what you can see around
you. We were lucky to chance on the high tide and we could see schools of local
fishes. Also, a local ranger passing by told us that at low tide, there would be another
sight to behold and one could see seagrass beds and different species of
crustaceans on the mudflat.
The next stop is Berlayer Creek. This place is very special as it is one of the two
remaining mangroves in the south of Singapore. This mangrove are as precious as a
diamond indeed.
After passing by Berlayer Creek, we made our way to the Henderson Waves, an
amazing bridge that mimicked a wave twisting across the sky. The walk was indeed
challenging and we were glad we brought water. We took many scenic pictures at
Alexandra Garden. The view from the Waves was amazing and one could see the
sea from this height.
We stayed for about 30 minutes at the Waves before turning back to Labrador Park
MRT for our journey home. Our legs were screaming in pain yet we felt fulfilled. As
Vincent van Gogh said If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.
Therefore, you should go take a walk at Labrador at least once this coming holiday!
