Community Exposure and Outreach Activity

Helping other people without any hesitation is one the most fulfilling and heart-warming
thing you could, either in the community, institution or even just the single person in the
community. It is our way of reaching out those less fortunate people to make them feel wanted
and special even for a single day.
When I first heard the word outreach, the first thing that came in to my mind was Us,
helping those in needs. And of course, I felt really excited at that time. Honestly speaking,
before the outreach, I dont have any experiences in this any kind of activity. Sure, I help other
people by donating my used clothing or donating money, but to this kind of activity that I will
have to go to a particular community, to reach a hand is new experience for me. And one of my
dream or goal in my college life is to experience this kind of thing.
In organizing this kind of activity, we needed to prepare a lot like making programs. In order
for them keep their attention and for them not to feel gloomy, you needed to let them feel the
excitement and you wanted to participate in the event. You dont have to exclude yourself and let
them they were excluded. You need to let them feel they were wanted and you
When we arrived at Pinit, Pili, Camarines Sur, we could see the excitement and the
happiness of the people out there. The glimpse of happiness in their bright faces, like how we felt
also at the sight of them was different, it was overwhelming. Maybe its the sight of new faces.
They are very hospitable, not only the sector of the community but all of them.

We have prepared lot of activities for them. The first one is the opening program by prayer
and playing the National Anthem. The introductory speech of the leader community leader,

from the children who volunteered to sing or dance. We also played lot of games because we
knew that the children would have so much fun. Weve have seen how happy they were when
playing and when they receive a prize from us. Its like, even the smallest little token from us is
much appreciated by them. For us, it is just a small thing, but for them, it is a precious gift that
was given. Not only children enjoyed the activities, but also those older person in the
community. They participated in games, intermission etc. Also, they helped and guided us
throughout the activity. Like keeping the program systematic and making us feel comfortable.
Even though the activity was fun, I was sort of disappointed with some of them. With how
they behave throughout the activity especially those parent teaching their children how to be
unfair. And that is very disappointing sight to see that a parent must taught their children what is
good and what is bad yet they are the one teaching malpractices. And the other one is they dont
teach their children the proper manner when there is a visitor. But we also understand that
because they were just children and they dont know what theyre doing.
One thing that I have learned in this community outreach is patience. You need to have long
patience towards the children. They are very naughty, loud and they dont have some manners
but they were adorable. They can make you smile out of nothing.
