First: Comment about 3rd debater (Government)

So, Assalamualaikum w.b.t

In Malaysia, workers have lack satisfactory in working conditions because they faced
certain challenges in working environment such as discrimination, cronyism, and extra
working hour. So let me ask you first to make you think? Is there any company that will
choose people without discrimination, without cronyism and without giving them extra

working hour?
First, let me tell you more about Discrimination in Malaysia. Discrimination is the
unjust treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age,

or sex in simple word is unfairness.

Meaning: Discrimination in the workplace occurs in different forms based on

characteristics, such as age, gender, race, marital status or ethnic background.

Discrimination already happens in our country so many years ago. We can see the
discrimination towards race. Malay company will choose Malay workers, Chinese
Company will choose Chinese workers to work with them in higher rank in company, but
Malay workers will work such as operator and clerk in Chinese company, sometimes if
they are lucky because to have good qualification they will be take to the company but

they must start from the below to be in good position.

So rather than they start from below they will migrate to others country that give them
good position based on their qualification without discrimination at all. They will choose
to go abroad to find a job because they knew they will get work based on their
qualification.

Evelyn Tang, is a theoretical quantum physicist at the University of Pennsylvania, who

just got her PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) believed that the
racial disparity was her main reason for not working in Malaysia.

I had to go abroad for university anyway because of the quotas against Chinese in local
universities which meant that it would be very difficult for me to study what I want and
where I want (experienced by many family and friends), she explained.

And I ended up in the US because research and academia are much more exciting and
open here -- the US has many many great universities. I want to be a professor -- a

professional within the university system so it's important to me to really learn good skills
and techniques vs substandard ones.

You need to know, fair treatment will make people choose to stay rather than
discrimination workplace environment. It because fair treatment make the positive
working environment.

Next, this is the most popular issue happen in Malaysia that is cronyism (krn

izm).

Meaning: Cronyism is the act of hiring friends or their close relatives without even
focused on their qualification.

It benefits for the person who have crony in certain companies. But what the fate of the
person who doesnt have crony at all and they want to apply job. They have good
qualification other than other applicants.

But! Because of cronyism in Malaysia, it destroys the moral and motivation of

employees to work. When they dont have motivation, they will rather choose to migrate
to get better life with better working environment.

Example: This cronyism can be seen by one of JPA scholarship holder, she complain
that she already waiting for about 2 years and half for the JPA to call her for job vacancy
based on scholarship agreement that she needs to work for two years with government.
But she suddenly knew her friend already got a job using his crony. She has good result
rather than her friend, but she cannot get a job because she doesnt have crony.

So who will waste their time waiting for job vacancy that not suitable with their
qualification. But when they going to abroad they will have better opportunities to
working using their qualification and without using any crony at all.

From there, they will have motivation to going abroad to get better life and have good
working environment in abroad. From here, they will rather choose to working abroad
rather than Malaysia because in developing country they treat their entire citizen equally
without favouritism.

Other than that, the issue regarding to workplace environment that make us going to
migrate is extra working hour.

As you know, The motto of 8 Hours of Sleep, 8 Hours of Work, 8 Hours of Entertainment
has its origins during the Industrial Revolution in Britain, where industrial production in
large factories transformed working life and imposed long hours and poor working
conditions. The working day could range from 10 to 16 hours for six days a week.

Robert Owen in 1817, formulated the goal of the eight-hour day slogan Eight hours
labour, Eight hours recreation, Eight hours rest.

Following this rule, it will help you to reach a healthy and better organized life. Having a
good sleep will help us to concentrate better, be more alert and be able to make better
decisions, especially during our working hour, which are normally during the first hours
of the day.

The average Adult need 7 to 8 hours of sleep. And we all need to have some fun, taking
our minds away from our work projects. Similar to a vacation period, where we come
back fresh and ready to start working with new energy.

Put 8 Hours of Sleep, 8 Hours of Work, 8 Hours of Entertainment, and you will see a
difference in your life. If you need to work more than 40 hours a week, then organize
your time to get as much sleep and fun possible.

BUT! In Malaysia they did not practical this motto. They will work with extra hour to get
extra pay.

Example: Farhana Hamid is currently based in Czechoslovakia. She recently graduated

from Malaysia and is working with Marcus Evans, which is in the in the events industry,
handling conferences, forums, and professional training sports events for industry experts.

I prefer going abroad because of the work culture here - theres no extra working hours,
we all go back on time, it's flexible here, and theres more opportunities especially when
you are earning in euros

Best part is I have 20 days of holidays a year here, compared with 12 days in
Malaysia! ( so there will no problem for them for not going back to Malaysia because
they have 20 days for their holidays in a year)

In Malaysia, there is lots of accident reported for the workers who work overtime.
Because of the economics in Malaysia they will choose to work overtime to get extra
money. They need to work extra time or else they will not have enough money for their
cost of living.

But, if you work outside with higher pay it will not be an issue at all. You need to work
only for 8 hours and their salary is enough for them to pay their expenses. So if you need
to choose what you will really choose.

In short, Malaysia should not avoid brain drain rather than practicing brain gain policies to
become higher learning hub of an excellence in Southeast Asia, this because brain drain also
give benefits to Malaysia in terms sharing skills they get in outside country. They can also
share with Malaysia when they return to Malaysia. They can explain their culture, their skills
can be model for them to become higher learning hub of an excellence in Southeast Asia.
