Scope: This document applies to structural members welded from cut carbon steel plates.
Quality assurance (QA): The QA process starts by checking the quality certificates and the
dimension inspection of the receiving carbon steel plates, also by giving individual codes per heat
for each reference the provider delivers to the shop. Those codes are moved to each cut steel piece
from the beginning to the end of production line. Every quality certificate is stored in physical and
electronic devices to be delivered to the clients.
Every inspection made to the welded members during fabrication is registered in a checklist sheet
and stored in physical and electronic devices for further deliver to the clients.
Quality control (QC): QC is based on the American Welding Society Standard (AWS D1.1/D1.1M,
clause 5. Fabrication), making proper standards procedures controlling each measure to be
conform to the tolerances of the specifications given in the AWS Standard. Also during welding of
structural members we use Welding Procedures prequalificated by AWS.
The inspection of welds and dimensions of structural member is made by statistical sample
inspection using the ISO 2859 Standard.
